Dodging the Question

Ok- so I am 6 weeks 2 days  and have gone out with my girlfriends a couple times since we found out about the baby. I don't want to announce it yet since it is still early- prior to tonight I have avoided the "why aren't you drinking question" with the pathetic excuse of 'i have a cold.' Tonight is our girls night out/holiday get together and I really want to go to dinner and to the martini bar afterwards (smoke free in Illinois) but I know the girls are going to wonder why I am not drinking... We are all close so its not like I can just blow it off- what did you all do in these situations with your friends before you announced your pregnancy?

    can you order alone but ask the bartender to put cranberry juice into the cup instead? I had a cranberry and 7up but if someone else asked it was a cran and vodka. No one can tell. Or do like pinnaple juice and cranberry juice. It looks fancy in the cup but no one will know.

    I did the, "meh, I just don't feel like drinking today". It works just fine.

    Will you be ordering with them in earshot? If not I would just get a virgin bloody mary, virgin daiquiri or a 1/2 cranberry 1/2 7up to fool them.

    Just say your XMas present to someone (the baby, but they don't have to know that!) is that you will never drink and drive. Call them beforehand and offer to go pick them all up and be the DD.

    Ask the bartender for virgin drinks. Pineapple, grenadine, and 7Up are a good combination.

    At my friend's bachelorette party, I went up to the bartender and let them know I'm pregnant and whatever the girls ordered, I would need a drink in the same color that wasn't alcohol.

    At one point he brought everyone a shot of some red thing and he winks at me.  When I smelled it, it was cranberry juice.  Then the girls got giegerbombs (spelling) and mine was a shot of coke and the redbull (I skipped the redbull, just said that I liked the shot alone).

    The bartenders get a kick out of it.

    I agree with the virgin drinks!  That is what I plan on doing this weekend for Christmas parties with friends.  My Husband is filling up an empty bottle of vodka with 7up and I will mix with Cranberry juice.... hahaha gonna love their faces when I tell them in a month!!!  :) so sneaky!!!

    We went out with another couple last weekend and I was feeling horrible. ?The guy said to me, "Not feeling good, huh? ?Sounds like you're pregnant!" ?I responded by saying, very sarcastically, "Oh yes, that's exactly what it is!" ?The conversation didn't go any further. ?They took the bait that I was kidding around, yet I didn't have to lie! ?You could use a similar response if your friends question you for not drinking.
