8 month old pulls hair out

My 8 month old has been ruling the hair out by his ears since he was about 5 months old.. At first I just thought this was one of those weird things that babies do and that he would stop doing it but now I'm wondering if this is normal behavior or if he may have something wrong .. Does anyone else's baby do this?
