DS has been diagnosed with a pretty bad case of eczema. Poor baby is itchy and rashy everywhere and hasn't been able to sleep because of it. Benadryl only helps a little at night. The doctor prescribed an oral steroid for a few days to deal with his horrible rash and it has helped. She also prescribed a steroid cream for flare ups and an OTC for minor issues. I'm looking at getting fragrance/dye free shampoos and lotions. Anyone else dealing with eczema? What has worked or not worked in managing it? I appreciate any knowledge or recommendations you can share.

Re: Eczema-please share your experience
Both of our twins have eczema. We bath them with Cetaphil which is mild and fragrence free (it's what our Pedi recommended).
After their bath we apply prescription stregnth steriod cream to any flare up patches and then cover them in head to toe with Hydrolatum which is a cream that you have to get from the Pharmacist but does not require a prescription. It has worked WONDERS.
My almost 7 month old son has eczema and I have tried so many options! What works for us:
Tide Free & Gentle powder laundry detergent. (I use this on EVERYTHING I wash in my house. Blankets, bibs, spit cloths, etc. and my whole family's clothes, that way when he rubs his face on our clothes, it doesn't upset his eczema.)
Downy Free & Sensitive fabric softener.
Bounce Free & Sensitive dryer sheets.
As far as his bath, I use Dove Sensitive Skin Unscented bars (for body and hair.)
After bath, I slather on Eucerin Original Healing Creme (I buy in a 16 oz jar at Walmart for about $12.00.)
This is the only combination I have found to work. Good luck!
I've heard of other mamas having great success with hazelwood necklaces for their babes. Might be worth a try, if nothing else seems to be working.
We tried so many other lotions that claim to be for eczema and they still irritated her skin. Even tried straight Vaseline. We did use a topical prescription hydrocortisone cream from the pedi when it got really bad, but she hasn't had a breakout since we switched to Charlie's and Vanicream.

Don't use a lot of soap IF you use it.
Make sure everything you use is free of dyes/parfumes(fragrance) and limited ingredient list.
Aveeno never worked for me but give it a shot.
Virgin Coconut Oil is great too.
**I rec: Do NOT use Dreft*
