TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

Bi-Weekly Wine and Cheese Party

Good Morning 6+ers!

It's that time again...Ok, it was actually "that time" last Friday but since I was on vacation, it's a little late this time. This is our bi-weekly check in, condensed version. Feel free to let us know how life is; you can b!tch, you can moan, you can brag, you can cry, whatever you want. Enjoy!

Happy November 1st! In honor of the colder weather that comes with November, we are having mulled wine and cheese fondue today! Yum! Yum!

Re: Bi-Weekly Wine and Cheese Party

  • Update: Our meeting with our potential surrogate was AMAZING. She is a perfect match for us and we instantly felt at ease, despite the awkwardness of the situation. It's not everyday you meet someone and ask them if they'll have your baby at the same time. I can totally see us being friends throughout and after this journey is complete. Her husband was great too and I couldn't be more thrilled with how it went. We have officially started the process again and hopefully she is scheduling her medical clearance appointment with the fertility clinic today. The agency said we can even hope for a January transfer!

Non-TTCAL: There's a whole lot of nothing going on here I'm totally in a funk with working out (or should I say NOT working out :() and just having no motivation in general. I don't know what my deal is, but it sucks. I have all these fun ideas, like crafting, doing some organizing around the house, and playing with my sewing machine, but lately all I have actually done is sit on my butt on the couch. *sigh* I need some help getting motivated to do things again!

I'm glad your meeting with the surrogate went so well, FX all goes smoothly from here on in!

((hugs)) with regards to the motivation, I'm in a very similar boat these days and I know just how hard it is to break out of.  I recently bought some new drawing pencils and thought I'd get back into it, but haven't even cracked them open, I seem to just get caught on the couch watching Netflix and playing on my iPad.  I did, however, make a bit of a pact with a friend that twice a week we're going to get together after work and do Wii Dance games (Just Dance, Zumba) for both fun and exercise, we did it once this week and it was lots of fun.  Having that other person holding me accountable is forcing me to kick myself in the ass and get going!

  • @sammer818 - that is such fantastic news! Everything crossed that you have a Jan transfer!

@gscoville - DH and I used to play wii together - we have danced, golfed, and bowled competively ;)

My update - I've finally started using DHEA this cycle so I'm hoping that I magically get some good follies and great timing.

Non-TTCAL - I'm exhausted! This is week three of 50+ hours. If I was working for a firm that would be okay. I'm not. It's a crap temp job doing day entry. On the plus side I am making a lots of extra money. Grumpy, tired bug is a little worried about BDing during FW but more worried about sleep and sanity.

((hugs)) Buggirl, I'm sorry you're burning the candle at both ends, 50+ hours/week is just YIKES territory!

TTCAL:  Not much to update, just waiting for that damn OB appointment on the 8th and biting my nails hoping we don't get a last minute call cancelling it again.

NTTCAL:  Nothing big, although I do have a hair appointment this afternoon that I'm looking forward to.  My old hairdresser has moved and this is my first appointment with someone new, I've done the same cut and streak/colour for many years but am thinking I might just try something different.  We'll see!

  • @Sammer818 YES! I love this update from you! And possibly a January transfer?? Holy shit! That's so good! I'm sorry you've been feeling unmotivated. I can relate. Sometimes I have to just force myself to do something and other times I go to bed. Either option is acceptable. ((hugs))

@buggirl72 FX the DHEA is the magic pill for you. That's a lot of hours put into work. I'm sure anyone would be grumpy and tired after that. Is this normal or is there an end in sight? ((hugs))

@gscoville That appointment had better not be cancelled again! Let us know how it goes. I'll be thinking about you. And post pics of the new hair! ((hugs))

@snegde Happy Anniversary and thanks for the wine! It's always good to have some extra wine with the shortage looming ahead of us. When is your RE appt? I'm hoping you get some answers too and a plan for moving forward. ((hugs))

TTCAL - Well, I had completed all of my RPL testing. Labs were done 2 months ago and HSG & SHG were done about 6 weeks ago. So I'm waiting and waiting for all the results to come in. I'm missing 4 tests so I called my doctor. It turns out the fucking lab lost my fucking tests. I had to go in on Thursday and have them draw more blood (only 4 vials this time). So now I'm back to waiting for those results and THEN I can make an appointment to go over the results. As if this process wasn't hard enough, now they have to make it even harder.

Non TTCAL - I hate my job. I hate my career field. I'm trying to find something else but it's not happening and I'm just angry at everything overall. We've decided not to go back home for Christmas this year and instead do something just for ourselves. We haven't had a vacation since our honeymoon and even that was just a three day weekend. We want to go somewhere we can drive to. I'd like to avoid airports. I think we're going to try to sit down this weekend and decide where we're going. Oh and I've started writing a new book yesterday. Hence, my new ticker. Has anyone ever heard of NaNoWriMo? It's National Novel Writing Month and the goal is to write 50,000 words in November. I've done it once before and it turned out well. I completed the 50,000 words in November but it wasn't enough to finish the book so I kept going. I've been in a writing slump and I'm hoping this will help get me back at it. Sometimes good, creative things can come from maniacally writing everyday and sometimes the only good thing is just trying to get over writer's block and getting the words out no matter how crappy they are. I'm not expecting great literature out of this one - just finding my way back to writing.

I'm sorry the lab fucked up and you're having to wait even longer for results ((hugs))

I actually considered trying NaNoWriMo this year, but I haven't written in a really long time and didn't think throwing myself into something so ambitious would be a good idea - plus November is first term report card time and in about a week I'll be way too busy writing them to even think about my own writing. I'll be cheering you on though @uneek1323!

@snedge - (((Hugs)))) and I'm sorry you are feeling left behind but I get it. BPF is my least favorite day on PgAL but I do check out certain bumps of those ladies who mean a lot to me.

I'm doing the DHEA on my own but my RE had recommended that I start it a few months back.  I need to send the RE an email though since I'm having some weirdness that may be due to the DHEA. I just don't know.

@uneek1323 - that is just so f'd up. Can you at least get a copy of the labs that have come back until your appointment? I think the writing challenge sounds awesome. If I had the time I would think about doing that. I had one book that I started, got to around 60,000 words and then tossed it. I have a few different ideas floating around in my head that I want to get down on paper.

As far as work, probably until the beginning of December, but we might get a little break in November. I really can't see them being okay paying this much overtime to 20+ people for that long. It doubles my income and with my deferment on my student loans ending, that's a good thing.

  • Hi ladies! This is going to be a bit of a post and run, but I will circle back to catch up with everybody a bit later.

TTCAL:  The RE now thinks that I have endometriosis on top of everything else. He thinks we should move to more aggressive treatment, either IVF or controlled ovarian hyperstimulation w/IUI (all injectables-- I had been doing a minimum stimulation IUI protocol).  If I do anything short of IVF, he wants me to do a laparoscopy first.  The lap is a risk for me because of my DOR. There is a chance that removing any endometriosis from my ovaries could take healthy ovarian tissue and any remaining function I have left.  So, I've got a huge decision in front of me.

We're increasingly leaning towards IVF, but I'm still wrapping my head around it, not to mention trying to figure out where the money is going to come from.  Honestly, it all looks pretty bleak right about now.  I'm ready to fast forward November altogether, my first EDD is on the 9th, and the anniversary of my second BFP is on the 16th and I'm generally in a bad headspace about all of it.

NTTCAL:  I'm thinking about applying for grad school. There is a program that I am not in love with, but it will give me a much needed flexible MA degree, work will pay for the majority of it, and it is designed to allow students to work full-time.  I think I may just bite the bullet.  I have been putting it off because there is no way I can work full-time, go to school part-time and also be a mom, but since the latter doesn't seem likely, I think I should stop putting it off.

  • @sammer818 So excited that you had such an amazing meeting and connection with your surrogate.  We will be rooting for a January transfer! It is just around the corner.  I hear you on the general "meh" feeling about working out or really about doing just about anything that doesn't involve elastic waistband pants and a couch.  I'm usually a big believer in "fake it until you make it"--basically, if you force yourself kicking and screaming the first few times, it will eventually get easier--but I haven't even been able to muster up the energy to try it.

@buggirl72 I've been thinking of you since your bleeding scare this weekend. (((hugs)))  Are you still taking the DHEA?

@gscoville Fingers crossed for your appointment (at long last!) on the 8th. Make sure to share some pics of your fabulous new haircut!

@snegde (((hugs)))  I'm glad you have a good plan moving forward with the RE. I hear you 100% on the conflicted feelings that come from being left behind. Wishing those ladies well doesn't mean that we don't also wish it for ourselves. It's hard.  And, happy anniversary, I hope this week gives you lots of opportunities to reconnect and enjoy each other.

@uneek1323 FFS, I can't believe that they lost your freaking blood. How insanely frustrating.  I'm so sorry that they are making a difficult situation even worse. I hope they are able to turn it around quickly and get you in the office soon.  I think you are OOP, and I'm sure that I don't need to tell you this, but make sure to watch your bills and make sure they don't charge you twice.  Good luck on the writing challenge! It sounds like an amazing project. I hear you on the job and career path. I feel like that on certain days as well, which is why I am considering going back to school. What do you do?  I hope that you find the perfect spot for your December getaway. <3

@jalara48 I'm glad you found a way to celebrate your birthday and honor your tradition of treating yourself to something special. We could all use a little Ganesha--remover of obstacles--in our lives.

  • @MsAmandaPants - I dropped down from 75mg to 50mg a day, I figure going down slowly would be better than I full stop.  I still don't know if that was the cause and am still waiting for my RE to email me back to let me know what he thinks.

  • @sammer818- I'm so glad your meeting went well! FX that the time flies by and everything goes well in the clearance.

@bugggirl72- FX that the DHEA works! And that 50+ sounds awful, I'm sorry

@gscoville- FX that he is free and you have a great appointment! . And I love new haircuts! Before and after shots!?!?

    @snegde- Happy anniversary!

@uneek1323- I'm frustrated for you that this is taking so long. Did they have to send out all the labs? If not, why can't they tell you now what some of the labs are? I don't see the point in making you wait. Also, what type of book are you writing?

@jalara48- I'm sorry about the Femara round, but I'm excited for you about the surrogacy! When does everything get started?

@MsAmandaPants- That sounds like a big decision! If you have any questions about IVF, feel free to ask.

TTCAL: I had my first monitoring appointment since starting stims. My RE is aiming for 12 eggs, but I am hoping for more since I know my eggs are likely to suck. The ultrasound showed 12 exactly, with about 5 of them on the small side so far. My lining is looking great, which I'm happy about. I go in again on Wednesday for another ultrasound and bloodwork. Egg retrieval will either be Friday or Saturday. I'm getting really really excited, but I am trying to reign that in since I know a lot could go wrong and there is no guarantee that this is going to work. Ugh.

NTTCAL: My loss date is coming up (11/15/2013) so I'm not looking forward to that. I'm just trying to focus on work. Looking forward to Thanksgiving. We live out of state from our families and we haven't been home in awhile so it'll be a nice visit.

NTTCAL: My loss date is coming up (11/15/2013) so I'm not looking forward to that. I'm just trying to focus on work. Looking forward to Thanksgiving. We live out of state from our families and we haven't been home in awhile so it'll be a nice visit.
*HUGE HUGS*  @jbasore. Take care of yourself today sweetie.

@buggirl72 - sorry to hear you have to work so much. Boooo :( I hope the DHEA helps!

@snegde - Happy Anniversary! I know what you mean about so many emotions when you're lurking on PgAL. It's really hard. ((Hugs))

@uneek1323 - omg I can't believe they lost your labs!! WTF?! I hope you get all that sorted out soon so you can get your results. Nanowrimo sounds great, good for you! Good luck!

@jalara48 - Happy belated bday! I think it's really awesome you started a new blog about this whole process and I can't wait to read more!

@msamandapants - ((huge hugs)) as you face this difficult decision. That's exciting about maybe going back to school!

@jbasore1123 - GL the next few days! So exciting! FX for lots of great eggs!

    My update:
Today is my EDD for my 2nd loss. I'm doing ok I guess. Just sad. The fact that DH and I are missing this FW and prob the next one due to travel is not helping. January will be 2 years since my first bfp and I'm still not any closer to having a baby. I'm just feeling down today. But I leave for my away rotation in MN tomorrow, so that's exciting and I'm also really nervous!

  • I'm late to the party, but had to stop by anyway!!

@sammer818 I'm so excited for you! So happy that you had a good connection with the surrogate.  FX that you get out of your funk soon!

@buggirl72 I hope work slows down for you soon and you can get some rest!

@gscoville I hope your appointment goes smoothly!

@snedge I know what you mean with the restoring intimacy!! DH and I need to do that too but I don't think it will be happening anytime soon. I do the same thing on PGAL and then I'm like "why did I do that to myself?" *sigh* We like to torture ourselves!

@jalara48 Glad you had a good birthday. Sorry about the BFN.

@MsAmandaPants Sounds like you have ALOT to think about! ((hugs)) I assure you that you can do all that and still be a mom!! It's hard work, stressful and tiring but it's doable. :) I was putting off getting my PL certification for other reasons but finally had to say to myself, "it's now or never! Do it!" Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss how to juggle all those things at once! ;)

@RedTwizzlers FX for a safe trip tomorrow and good luck!!

@jbasore1123 My loss date is coming up as well...and I just realized it was one yr ago today that I got my bfp! I LOVE your siggy challenge pic!! HOTHOTHOT

@uneek ((hugs)) a similar thing happened to me with my karyotyping and I had to get blood drawn a second time as well. They didn't take enough blood the first time and just didn't run the tests they were supposed to, I think.  Good luck on writing your book!

TTCAL: We got the SA results back.  The nurse on the phone said they were normal. I requested a copy of the SA. They did a "basic semen analysis". It was totally different from the one he had done 2 years ago (different place did it) and I wasn't happy with it b/c it was very hard to read the results. The report gave his semen a grade of "B" which is sluggish progressive motility. There was a handwritten note that said, "low morphology but overall a normal SA".  His morphology was 0% with the "normal" being >8%Strict C. Now I don't really know what that means b/c as I said, the other report explained everything and this was shit. But I don't see how anything that's 0% when it should be over 8% is good?? If I am not KU this cycle, we will be going to see an RE. We will be going to the one who did his SA 2 years ago, as it is a woman and they also utilize fertility yoga (already do this when I have time) and acupuncture, which I would like to give a try.  His morphology from the other report was like 34% or something, but clearly their norms are different and they didn't use letter grades on the report.

NonTTCAL: There is a light at the end of the tunnel!! I am 90% sure that we are lice and nit-free!!!!!! Praying that I never see those bastard bugs again.  I'm going to do once a week comb outs for prevention purposes.  Dh and I are still working on things. He is coming to therapy with me next week. We still not in a very good place.  We are going out this Saturday, I hope we can have fun together.

    Sorry if I missed anyone!

  • Late to this party, but I'm here.

@sammer818 - Fantastic news about the meeting with the surrogate! FX all goes well and the transfer can happen in January.

@gscoville - A friend and I recently made a workout pact. It definitely helps with motivation. How was your appt today?

@buggirl72 - Sorry you're so exhausted with this temp job. Hopefully it changes soon.

@jalara48 - Your birthday sounds like it was great. I'm glad you got to get something for yourself as well.

@snegde - I hope you get some answers and a plan when you meet with your RE. (((Hugs)))

@uneek1323 - How shitty that they lost your blood! Have you got results back from the repeat draw?

@MissAmandaPants - GL with your upcoming big decision. I'm thinking about you. ((Hugs)) and be kind to yourself tomorrow.

@jbasore1123 - FX and good vibes coming your way for your upcoming procedures.

@amores0121 - Sorry for all the stress overt the SA. If this isn't it for you, I hope your able to find an RE that is a good fit with you.

@redtwizzlers - (((hugs))) love. I can empathize with the stress of traveling. DH is on the road a lot and as a result our TTCAL like takes a hit. Hopefully things work out better than you're expecting.

@EKGibs - Yay!! Congrats lady! I hope you enjoy it for a long time to come.

My update: I'm going to the RE in the morning for our 3rd IUI. DH is working out of town, so he'll be meeting me there to drop off his sample and then has to get back on the road. I'm glad it worked out that he can do his part, I just wish he could stay while it actually happens. Not like it's a huge procedure, but it's just more comfortable with him there. I'm trying to stay optimistic, but that is getting hard.
