Start Ganirelix tonight

I'm on day 7 of stims and just got my BW back and sono results. I have 3 follicles: 14, 14, 15 and my estradiol is only 325.7. That just seems low to me.

They moved me up to 450 Gonal F on Thursday and that helped a lot but still, not many follicles. He said I have to have at least 3 follicles over 15 (or was it 18?) to go to retrieval. Can I still make more between now and retrieval?

Is it possible the RE can't see other follicles on the sono? Could they be hiding on the back side of the ovary?

And doesn't my estradiol seem really low? I thought it would be higher with 3 follicles.

Can IVF still be successful with only 3 follicles? I've read so many who go into retrieval with the sono showing follicles numbering in the teens and then after retrieval much less. And with each passing day until transfer less follicles will make the cut. So, if I'm starting out with 3, it doesn't look like it will play out very well.

Anyway, my LH went from 2.6 on Wed to 5.4 today so they are starting me on Ganirelix and I was wondering if that was an ouchy shot or not. I know the Menopur stings if it goes in too fast and I've heard the progesterone in oil can be really painful. Haven't heard much about the Ganirelix.

I go back tomorrow for a sono and BW again. SOOOOO many questions!

Oh! Can your lining be too thick? Mine is at a 10 and RE said had to be at least 7/8 to go to retrieval.

I don't know, I'm doing a totally different protocol, and my next baseline isn't until Monday. I'm in the "Gray area" I hate not knowing.

Did they tell you exactly how long you're going to do stims? Meaning did they already give you a retrieval day? I'm wondering if they will tell me on Monday? I just started Follistim yesterday AM, but I also started the antibiotics, so I'm assuming they're planning retrieval somewhere in the near future?

Lol I came in and basically just dumped more questions. I guess we should sit here together twiddling our thumbs until we know something, right??

It's the damned truth.

I started Gonal F last Sat and my 2nd BW was that following Monday. Kind of similar to yours - we sound like a week apart.

I haven't started antibiotics yet - my RX is for the 5 day z-pack. I guess you take the antibiotic just before retrieval and end up finishing on transfer or just after?

They told me when I started that retrieval day was Nov 13ish and transfer day was Nov 16th or 18th.

And I hate being so out of the loop! It makes me feel helpless.

Ohhh. They only gave me a specific date to start Lupron, they never gave me a date for retrieval, I guess that makes sense anyway since I was delayed a few days starting my stims (supposed to start last Mon) I *think* I'm supposed to stim for around 10 days, so that will put my trigger around the 16th, and retrieval the 18th, and hopefully we'd do a transfer on the 23rd. I guess we'll see how that all goes.

Yea it's sucks because there are so many factors we have to worry about. It's like constantly being on pins and needles, just hoping everything progresses as planned.

Well at least we're in it together :P (hugs)

Oh I see! So you started your stims first, then you do your supressor! That seems so much easier! I'm on day 18 of Lupron- It's non stop Lupron, even during my stims- they just cut the dose down a bit- so right now I'm doing 3 shots per day b-(

Well I hope we both get lucky!!!

I took Ganirelex for 4 days. I think I triggered on the 4th day & then had the retrieval 36 hrs later. I felt like the Ganirelex needle gage was a bit bigger & it hurt a bit more than the follistim & low dose hcg, but it wasn't unbearable or anything. GL!

This was my exact thought when my hubs gave me the shot. Even he commented, "that's a much bigger needle...ouch!"

I had BW today and my LH was lower so it worked! Thank God!

I have to start PIO shots tomorrow night for a transfer on Friday and I'm so not looking forward to it. They go into your butt muscle and I hear they hurt! Did you find out when your retrieval is yet?

Not yet - but it should be sometime this week. Originally, I was told around the 13th or 14th (this Wed or Thurs). My follicles grew overnight too =D> : 18, 17, 15, and a new one at 10 (let's hope it catches up!). They are increasing my menopur to 225 tomorrow.

The Ganirelix is thicker than the Gonal F and it stings, even injecting slowly, for about 15 mins after and is also a little itchy. But it passes.

Hooray for transfer on Friday!!! I heard (thought on here somewhere) using an ice pack 15 mins before the shot can ease the pain - numb your butt! My nurse said that was ok to do and that dermaplast is also helpful in numbing the injection site.

@ally510 I didn't know you were doing a FET this cycle! Good luck girl! That makes 3 this cycle! Who was saying we needed 3? Was it you @breeanne1974??!!

@Mrs Castillo - When we got the PGD results and learned we had 2 genetically normal embryos, we decided to do a FET rather than another retrieval. God willing one of the two (hopefully the transfer scheduled for Friday) will be our take home baby. I must have missed the 3 comment...I'm hoping it was referring to good things happening in threes! Who else is doing a FET this cycle?

I don't think anyone else is doing a FET this cycle, but someone (I think Breeanne) made a comment of pregnancy happening in 3s while we were talking about our IVF cycles- I said Freakyfast was #3 but her transfer isn't until next cycle- I didnt realize there was anyone else doing an IVF (or FET) this cycle- so that all lines up perfectly!! We'll all be within a week of each other! How amazing would that be!!?
