LeapPad for 4 year old

Hello.  I looked back through posts and didn't see a recent one but did read a few older posts about tablets for kids.  My question is would you recommend a LeapPad for a 4 year old? We do have an ipad that has apps and we allow her to use it from time to time but it is too big for her.  People have recommended ipad minis etc but I think we aren't there yet.  So it is either a LeapPad type table or try to think of something else.  Thank you ladies!

  • DS uses our ipad and has for years he is 4.5. I would get the apps for the ipad if you dont mind sharing. Honestly most of the DS' apps were free.

  • DD is 3 1/2 and got the Leap Pad for her 2nd birthday.  Originally she used it to watch TV shows we had downloaded on it, now she does a few letter games, but it's been a long time since I put anything new on it.  She enjoys it, it keeps her busy in the car or stroller which is what we bought it for.  The ipad apps might be cheaper, but the Leap Pad is a whole lot cheaper than an ipad, and considering a main reason we got it was to keep her busy in the stroller while I run, I don't want her holding an Ipad in the stroller, plus we don't have it connected to the internet outside the house, so the options are very limited on the IPad when we're home
  • My DD received a Leap Pad for Christmas last year. She will play on it every now and then at home but I love how it keeps her busy while we are on the go. I have to agree with mommymegan831. We bought the Leap Pad for traveling. I would much rather we misplaced or damaged the $100 Leap Pad on the go than our $500 IPad.
