NBR- Wedding gift advice

My husband's best friend decided that he was getting married tomorrow last week and my DH and I were invited. Here's the issue, he is basically eloping so there is no registry. And to make matters worse, when my DH and I got married he gave up two large original pieces of art that I know took him months to complete. Today I have to figure out what to get him and I have no clue what to get. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am horrible at figuring out what to give people.

Re: NBR- Wedding gift advice

  • An experience: Weekend stay at a hotel or skidiving lessons. Don't know your budget.

  • For people I know who don't register I usually get them a nice "date night" gift. I get a gift card to a nice restaurant, bottle of wine, set of wine glasses (if I know they don't have a good set), and call it good.

  • I like all those suggestions!! I was going to say tickets to something they like (music, sports, theater)?
  • What's your budget like, and is he a wine drinker?  One of my friends got a year's subscription to a high end wine club, and every month received 3 bottles of nice wine - she still raves about that gift, particularly because it reminded her and her husband of their wedding throughout their first year of marriage...

  • One of the neatest gifts we got when we got married was a pasta machine, an Italian cookbook, a set of crystal wine glasses and a nice bottle of wine.
  • I'm so sorry I didn't respond all day. I was at work and mobile bump decided that I should only see posts from last month.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I like the idea of nice glasses and a bottle of something to go with it. Now it's up to my husband to decide if it's wine or hard liquor....

I like @pixieonboard 's suggestion.  Some REALLY nice bottles of wine?

A bottle of wine for each special event for the first year of marriage and write and attach a note to each bottle (i.e.: first Christmas together, first easter, first Bat mitzvah you celebrated as a couple....). I'm prob too late for this response!

  • Update- I dragged my DH to the mall last night and he found a mason jar shaker for drinks. So he is getting that and a nice bottle of gin since he loves martinis.
