We've never had issues. He refuses most of the pacifiers we give him anyway but he has this one MAM one that he loves. And no issues breastfeeding at all.
My LO will take any nipple you give him, bottle, paci, boob. DH gave him a bottle straight out of the fridge (like the super smart guy he is) but LO just chugged away.
I said I wasn't Going to give one either but I broke down and bought the MAM to help at night when she was cluster feeding but she doesn't want anything to do with it. She actually started gagging an threw up when I put it in her mouth (I was being slow and gentle) but she just didn't like it. Haven't tried any other. My son never took one so I really wasn't going to push it cause I figured it was one less thing I had to break.
Just concerned about "nipple confusion". Anyone have problems with this?
based on my experience with my older son,I'm convinced this is mostly a myth. There's research out there that pacifiers decrease SIDS. Don't feel bad! Get some sleep!
Anything you can achieve through hard work, you could also just buy.

This is our guy too, if its near his mouth he will suck on it lol
We tried giving Wesley a paci first at a week and then wouldn't latch right so we stopped and reintroduced it at 3 weeks with no problem. Wesley will only take the small nipple tommy tippee ones he hates everything else and sometimes he gives us a hard time taking any at all.
I've only recently given DS a Paci to see if it would calm him after I tried everything else that I had. Works fine. Also will take anything else that might be shaped like a nipple. Bottles, DH's knuckle, and nipple shield. It saves me from becoming a human Paci.
Yes, I thought I wouldn't give one either, but I did. Ds actually takes the boob a lot better (we've been weaning from a nipple shield). I have not tried to give him a bottle yet so I don't know about that yet. The only pacifier I have given him is the soothie kind, he'll take them when he just wants to suck and spits I it out when he's hungry.
I am desperately trying to get my LO to take a pacifier as of last week, but he wants nothing to do with them. I have a bunch of different kinds, none of which seem to suit him. He has discovered his hands though and he likes sucking on them, and I hate that. How the heck do you even get your LO to take a paci?

This. The only thing I think is real is bottle preference, preferring it over the boob.

Our LO will occasionally take the MAM but most of the time she will act like she is gagging, get pissed, and not take it. Our midwife actually suggested that we try to see if she will take one because she has a super strong need to suck all the time, even when she is done nursing she wants to be on and off the boob just playing around. We also tried the soothie, but she won't really take that one at all. At least with the MAM she will sometimes accept it.
The hearing test lady gave him his first paci while I was in the bathroom. I was kind of pissed.
He won't take it all the time though, only when he's sleepy. My husband doesn't understand this. He thinks he can just plug him up when he's fussy. Nope, not this little guy.
