Going back to work

How did you spend the last day of maternity leave with your baby?  I can't believe it's coming to an end and am sad that I'll have to be away from her during the day.  I want to make sure I make the most of my last day off with her.  Also any tips for how to deal with the separation and have confidence that she'll be ok at daycare?  Thanks!

    I just started back this week. Last Sunday, he was baptized, so we spent that last day with lots of family. It was nice.

    I will admit that leaving him at daycare Monday morning was the hardest thing ever. I cried as I dropped him off, and then cried all the way to work. Luckily, my babysitter is wonderful. She runs a daycare out of her home and she is great. I texted her just to see how he was doing, and she sends me pictures and updates. If you need to, call your daycare during the day Monday to see how your LO is doing. They'll understand a mom's anxiety about the first day. Go for it.

    And it has gotten easier each day this week. Now I know he's doing fine during the day, and I can relax at work.

    Plus the big smile I get when I walk in to pick him up is just the best feeling ever. You can do this. It won't be easy, but it'll get better.

    My biggest fear was that he would be crying all day and be so unhappy because no one else would do things the way I did. When I got the updates that he was playing happily on the play mat and taking good naps, it really helped ease my fears. Don't hesitate to call and check in during the first few days. No one will hold it against you, and that reassurance really is nice.
