  • My RE told me there is a 35-40% chance of both sticking but that's of course dependent on quality of embryo like PP said.

  • Initially based on my age my RE gave me a 25% chance. Today he bumped it up to a 50% based on the quality of our embies. So I believe that until they know what you have to work with they give you a clinic average, then once they have your full picture and the grade of your embies they will give you a better idea of your chances for twins in a double embryo transfer.

    I was told there was a 30% chance of twins but just 60% chance of being PG so dh was like, so if PG its a 50% chance? And the doc said yes. But now that we're doing SET for FET obviously there is only a small small chance it splits. Like 5% with a 64% chance of any pregnancy (due to age and frozen embies stats at my clinic)

  • We transferred 4 this past cycle.

    We were given a 30% success rate because of our 2 prior failures.
    They said IF we were to get pregnant, we had a 25% chance of twins (with transferring 4), 10% of triplets, and less than 2% chance of more.

    Like PP said, its multifactorial.  Embryo quality, prior failures, maternal age, and also your clinic's success rates.

    They also told us that for FETs, they always want to transfer 2 because they have a lower success rate (at least at our clinic) with FETs.  We actually did Cycle #3 even though we have a frosty, in hopes that if the cycle failed we might get another frosty to pair up with the other one.

  • I was always told that transferring two does not increase your chances of pregnancy, just increases your chance of having multiples.

    There really are so many variables, but one of the biggest is whether or embryos are genetically normal.

    With embryos of that quality, why not freeze one?  That way if you get a BFN, you have another shot at a transfer.

    Our RE actually told me it does improve your chances of getting pregnant.  I too thought the same as you though.
    I froze two, both of good quality

    So far so good!  I'm 7w5d today :)  And we had only one stick :)

    To do it all over again, I'd still transfer 4.  The 2ww to beta and the 2ww to ultrasound were hell, constantly wondering how many peas in the pod...but if transferring 4 gave us the greatest probability of 1 sticking...I'd do it all over again :)

    Good luck!

  • My doctor said 40%
    Me (31) - PCOS with insulin resistance

    4 rounds of Clomid = no response
    IVF # 1 - ET (1 3AA, 4 frosties): 12/22 = BFP
    EDD: 9/9/2014

  • We were told if we transfered 1 we had a 50% chance of pregnancy.  If we transfered two we had a 50% chance of pregnancy with twins.  We had high quality embryos, which I believe is why our odds were the same regardless of how many were transfered.

    I have a few friends who've transfered three or four embryos with one or less sticking, but with lower quality embryos.

    We also had higher chance of pregnancy with transferring 2 vs. transferring 1. He didn't say if there was a higher chance with blasts vs. embryos as we only had blasts.

    x1 = 60-70%
    x2 = 70-80% (of which there was a 30% chance of twins)

    These stats seemed pretty high to me honestly, but I'm guessing it was because at this point there was nothing they could diagnose as "wrong" with us and I am under 30.  I'm sure this also depends on the grades of the blasts too!

    Good luck :) FX for you!!
