Babies on the Brain

Hi! Can I play?

I'm crazy for the babies! But won't TTC until next spring, when the H and I know where we will be geographically. We were married in Sept, and have been together a little over 5 years. I have been lurking a couple weeks, and checked out Fertility Friend and will start tracking with a BBT soon.

I had a couple questions though.

When would be a good time to start taking prenatal vitamins? Do you have a specific you like best...I do like to go organic when I can.

Whats a good BBT? I read up on one that looked ok, but had a constant beeping. I wouldn't care for that.

What does "team green" mean?

Thanks ladies and Hi!

  • Hi! You should start prenatals now, it is recommended that all women of child bearing age take them in case of an oops. I liked the Target brand, and I've heard good hints about Rainbow Light (i think they are called) for a more natural option.

I used the CVS BBT and it worked just fine, no weird beeping.

Team Green means the poster isn't finding out the sex of their baby before birth. As opposed to Team Blue or Pink.

  • I take gummy prenatals (Vitafusion) and love them. They don't have iron so don't mess with your stomach. I get them at Costco but you can get them anywhere.

The TTGP board has a great blog (one if the first threads at the top) that makes a recommendation for a BBT .

    Welcome to the board!

  • I just use the Target brand BBT, it works fine. I take New Chapter prenatal vitamins, they are organic. They're very easy on your stomach, I take them on an empty stomach and never had any problems. The downside is they're more expensive and you take them 3 times a day (not all at once) so it's harder to remember, but that's suppose to help your body to absorb more of the actual vitamins than you could if you took them all at once, I guess. That's what they say, I'm no expert. I also take Nordic Naturals DHA.

To the bolded, I toy with this idea often! There are very few great surprises in life, and I think this could be the best one. But really nerve wracking too.

I'll look into the vitamins, I never really thought about taking them before TTC. It makes sense though. Thanks!

Thanks, I did check out the blog briefly.

I don't mind the iron, I had to take an iron pill and what worked for me was taking some vitamin-c with it. Either the fruit or juice.

I like new chapter. I used to take their B vitmain, but I haven't been taking any supplements lately. I live in a small town, and the health food store charges unreasonably! I have used the website Vitacost before. I'll have to check to see if they carry it. Thanks:)
