I have a daughter that is almost a year old and pregnant with my second child. And I love being a mom but I moved down here from the Dow when I was pregnant with my daughter and still know no one. It gets pretty lonely because my husband works all the time to support us. I found a little babysitting job to get out of the house but I need someone I can hangout with my age. All my husbands friend are quite older because he works in the electrical field. And many kids our age are partying and living with roommates going to college , doing what 20 years olds do. Not a problem but we wanted a family and we started it. So I was wondering where I could meet other moms to where we could possibly have play dates or anything to where I am meeting new people who have something in common with me. Please help I love my daughter in all but I need someone else to talk to and she needs someone to play with that's around her age
Re: Meet other moms or moms to be
I joined Stroller Strides when my first was born and I still go. It's a group that meets at local parks and works out together. It's $55 a month but they have classes six days a week and it's mostly stay at home moms. There is also a Baby boot camp group that meets at Hardberger park I'm not sure about days or times or cost but it's another fitness option. If you're religious you could join a MOPS group.
They generally meet once a month and then have play dates. There is an annual registration fee of around $60 dollars or so. They provide sitters for meetings, but most moms of really little ones under 6 months or so bring baby with them if they don't feel okay with Child care. I used to attend the group at Alamo Heights United Methodist but the evening time meeting didn't work for my family. There are other MOPS groups in the area you can check out.
Depending on your interests there are La Leche League groups in San Antonio, a Babywearing International group of San Antonio, or San Antonio Natural Parenting group. They all have groups on Facebook and monthly meetings.
You can check out www.meetup.com for other mom's groups in the area. Last time I checked there were various moms groups with different focuses.
Good Luck. My DH travels a lot during the week and it can be hard being home all day with little ones by yourself.
I know how you feel! I just had my first baby and even though he is only 2 weeks old, I already feel lonely. All my friends work so the days at home can be long. I looked up the Mom's groups in town and they sound great but my doctor said since we are getting into flu season I should keep him away from the general public and especially other kids so he doesn't get RSV. Makes it hard I just want to get out and talk to other Mommies!
