Has anyone used a stokke carrier?

We were at the store today looking at carriers and the lady at the store recommended the stoke carrier. We really liked it cause of the extra back support and the mesh option, we live in south Texas with a baby due in June. We were just wondering if anyone has any experience with them.

  • Hmmmm.  It looks complicated. I would just get a Beco Gemini.  Same thing for $130, comfortable and easy to put on.

  • Too complicated and won't last as long as they claim, get an Ergo sport or Kinderpack with cool knit.

  • We don't like the Ergo because it latches in the back and does not offer a mesh option.  We live in South Texas and are due in June so that equals HOT!!!.  We also want something that is easy on the back. Both me and ny husband have back problems.

  • Honestly, you really can't babywear in Texas outdoors in the summer.  I live in Texas too and it doesn't matter what carrier you have, you are putting a hot baby on your hot skin which just makes you both even hotter.  I really don't see any way around that.  My kids would sweat while I was just holding them.  You could use it indoors and then it really wouldn't matter which one you have since everywhere is air conditioned.

For your back the best thing is getting the weight off your shoulders and onto your hips (just like a backpacking backpack does) which any good carrier like the ergo, becco etc will.

As for the buckle on the back it's never been a big deal to do it up myself
  • I have the Beco and I just leave the whole thing buckled and slip it over my head.   I never ever unbuckle it.  It's very easy.

  • The kinderpack has a mesh panel in the body to help with heat.
The Stokke will not be good for your back, the KP, Ergo, Tula, Beco, Boba are all going to put baby's weight on your hips and be fine for your back...I can wear my 9 mo on my front in a Tula and 2.5yo on my back in a toddler Tula, weight goes on your hips and it's fine and no I'm not a huge muscular crazy lady.

  • You can criss cross the straps of the Beco Gemini and clip them on each side of you.  Much easier than the Ergo.

  • I put the carrier on with loose straps, slide baby in then tighten my straps up :)
