NN for Hazel?

I'm kind of loving Hazel right now. I don't need a nickname for my child but have been fighting them off for our first born. I didn't realized it'd be so difficult to avoid a nickname! Just so I'm prepared if we use it, does anybody have nickname suggestions for Hazel?

I can't think of one.

I mean, maybe someone will call her "Haze" just off-hand ("Can I get that for you, Haze?"), but no one's going to regularly call her that. I can't imagine a scenario where you'd have to correct people.

None, but I have a pretty un-nicknameable name, and I get called by the first syllable of my name sometimes.

And my parents call me LG, which is not FN derived.

I call DD Haze quite a bit. But I wouldn't expect her to introduce herself as that or write it on a paper.
My 2.5 yr old calls her Hazey. I think it's super cute.

Thank you! And @Mrs Mosby--I love the names you chose for your girls! I'm just so tired of correcting people who try to make DD1 into another Elle or Elley. We chose and use her full name because we love it! I think, this time around, I'm ready for a name that doesn't have obvious nicknames.

But I don't think you have to worry about Hazel in that regard. Elle/Ellie is such a ubiquitous NN right now, people might even assume you used the name to get to that NN. Hazel doesn't contain any of the hot NNs right now (Evy/Evie, Addie, Maddy...).

People tried to shorten Eloise to Ellie when she was born. We just kept introducing her as and calling her Eloise. It stuck. We've never had an issue with Hazel.

I love the name Eleanor, but the only reservation I have is that she'd be another Ella or Ellie. If I named a daughter Eleanor, I plan on calling her Eleanor.

As for Hazel, I know no nicknames. I had a great grandmother names Hazel, and I never knew of her called anything but Hazel, mom and Granny Hazel.

We do call DD Haze and Hazie, also Haze-oh since that is how DS pronounced it when he was little. We also have some nicknames for her that have nothing to do with her name.

What about Zel? I feel that could be kind of cute actually. Ive never actually heard a nickname for Hazel though, just throwing it out there. I feel like nicknames are really unavoidable. As long as you are consistent with calling her Hazel and only Hazel I'd imagine it would stick

I don't think Hazel has a NN. Basil rhymes with Hazel and in a pinch we do call her Baze. Though it's really just when we're shouting up the stairs because we're late for the train. Haha! Though my DH suggested that you could name her Hazel and call her Hattie. Not sure how he got Hattie from Hazel though.

Hazel is on my list too, but my H is less on board. My best friend's grandmother was named Hazel (I love an old lady name!) and her whole family called her Hazie. My friend has mentioned many times that her grandmother hated her name, but I can't help that I love it!

Funny.. Because I know someone with 2 girls with both Eloise and hazel! They call Eloise "Elo" and hazel "hazey" both so cute.

My daughter is a hazel and we call her "Zul" or "Zully" because her big sister thought we were saying "hey, Zul!" When we first brought her home.
