Seperate cribs?

This may sound like a really dumb question but..... I'm reading that some parents have their twins share a crib and some have two cribs.
I'm only 7 weeks with twins but already stressing about these things. I'm a total spaz lately.
Thoughts???

Re: Seperate cribs?

  • Our home is very small. I plan on keeping them in the same crib until they begin rolling.

  • Our girls have their own cribs.

  • I figured two cribs. I was shocked when I read online that some parents have them share. Thanks for confirming. :)
  • My boys shared until 5 months.  At that point the smaller one started moving around a lot and waking his brother up.  They have their own cribs now, but on nights when one baby is fussy and doesn't want to go to sleep, I put them down together until they fall asleep.

  • We have both kids in the same crib right now. They are 3 weeks old and in our room. When they start moving around, we will probably add a pack n play for one of them in our room - not enough space for two cribs. They seem to not be phased by each other right now. Hoping we can make it to their baby shower in mid dec before having to buy a pnp.

  • Mine will be in their own when they start sleeping in their cribs. For the first few weeks they'll be in a pnp in our room.

My MIL insists on the babies sharing a crib (she did with HER twins) because that's the only way.. So I might be acting like a rebellious brat ;)

  • We plan on putting one crib in our room (the other one in their nursery) and keeping them in the same crib in our room the first couple months. Then we'll move the crib from our room back to their room and separate them in their own cribs in their own room.

  • We're planning to start right away with two separate cribs in a different room. We also have the twin Pack & Play with the two bassinets which we could use for the first few weeks in the bedroom if we change our minds. I haven't decided yet. Are newborns supposed to sleep in your bedroom at first?
  • We had the boys in our room in one crib for the first 3 months.  They came home on apnea monitors so it was just the easiest way for all of us.  Right around 3 months they started moving around quite a bit and we moved them in to their own cribs and own room.
  • Mine shared until one started rolling at 5 months.  Plus they just were too long at that point  to share anymore.  Now they like to roll to the other to see what she is doing and with their uncoordinated movements, they end up scratching or hitting each other.

TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!

K&A slept very well together and shared a crib until they started rolling over and had to sleep with their arms out of the swaddle. That was when we put them in their own cribs. They share a room since we don't have any extra rooms.

  • I've heard of babies rolling over at just a few days old even while swaddled. I will not have my twins sleep together. :\
  • My boys are 7 months and still sleep in the same crib and love it. The boys love it too. If we need to move them we will but they enjoy being near each other still.
  • It depends on the twins. You'll need 2 eventually, but for some twins it's comforting to share at first and they sleep better. But that's not for all. We'll probably play it by ear and see what they like.
  • Mine each have their own. We put them down in the middle of the crib and 9 times out of 10 each of them wake up at one end or the other. If they were together they'd be rolling all over each other. Every time I look at the monitor, they're in a new position far from where they started.

  • The AAP discourages twins sleeping together because it's a SIDS risk. Just throwing that out in case their opinion means a lot to you. I did it for naps but not at night. You absolutely will need 2 cribs at some point.
