Contractions/Pressure??

The past two nights when I lay down for bed, my very low stomach feels "weird." I'm not really sure it's pressure but when I applied a little pressure with my hand it seemed to help minimize the feeling. My actual crotch was kind of the same and I put a pillow high between my legs which helped some. Is this something to be concerned about or maybe just a baby? Also I've been feeling flutters/pops very low. I haven't experienced or can't tell if there is any tightening. Could this be contractions or a baby?

I'm 22 weeks 4 days but they are very concerned about ptl after my last ultrasound. Due to this, I'm overly paranoid and don't want to miss any signs!!!

Re: Contractions/Pressure??

  • I would call your OB and ask. Wouldn't want to say its nothing, because we're not doctors. Especially if PTL is a concern I would call them!

  • It could be a very low baby. Is it a regular, timetable pattern? What caused the concern for PTL?

My RE always says to call if anything changes or if I feel different at all. I would call if I was you knowing that there is probably nothing to worry about!

D & L are here at 34 weeks 4 days by vaginal and breech delivery on 11/19/2013
Two healthy boys weighing 4 lbs 15 ozs and 4 lbs 5 ozs.  Only 6 days in the NICU and getting bigger, stronger and cuter every day!

It's been the past 3 nights and when I'm driving to and from work. The ptl concern came from larger babies, too much fluid with the babies, and that's pushing on my cervix causing it to shorten. I'm going to call this morning....thank you!

Never feel stupid calling your OB- it's a perfectly legitimate question.

FWIW I had the same feelings around the same time, I called my midwife and she said it's normal- and one of the babies was sitting very low down on my cervix.

Thank you. I appreciate knowing this!!

  • Never hurts to call. That's their job :) and better to be reassured it's nothing than to be in PTL and delivering at such an early gestation. The poping feeling is most likely baby movements your uterus is pretty low still so they don't have much room to move in there hight wise and it's pretty common to feel those little ones bouncing around in that area.... (That gets to be a not so fun feeling the larger they get lol!) good luck and keep us posted. Hope it all is ok T&P!!

Do you know what positions your babies are in? Both my girls are breech and their kicks give me that popping feeling and it hurts. Sometimes its shockingly painful. They also put their feet on my hip bones and push until their feet pop off. Two breech babies is no joke. I swear I feel like their feet could be hanging out below.

  • Stephanie, both of mine are currently breech. Why are you such jerks, babies?!
