Re: Sleep questions

  • DD used to sleep 12hrs at night but now she is down to 11hrs with a 2hr nap.

She is still in a crib but when we went to NYC she slept in the bed with us for the first time ever. There wasn't room for 2 cribs plus I think she is way too long for the tiny cribs at the hotel.

I have no idea where she is going to sleep at my in laws house. They have tiny full size beds so all 3 of us won't fit. I don't know if I should buy a rail to take or another pack n play.

  • 1. DS is probably around 10-11 hours at night and lately he's been taking 2 1/2-3 hour naps. It used to be 1 1/2 to 2 hour naps so I'm totally happy about this!

    2. He's still in his crib and hasn't tried climbing out, thank goodness. We're not transitioning him to a big boy bed till he either outgrows it or tries to climb out. We were at a friend's place a couple weekends ago and he slept in the pack n play but he is definitely getting big for it. I've seen they have travel toddler beds but don't know if he would actually stay in one of those either!

  • 1. My LO sleeps 10-11 hours at night and 1.5-2 hour nap during the day. We are definitely getting less sleep from her now that she's in a toddler bed, especially with naps.
    2. When we are in a hotel or with family she sleeps in a twin sized blow up bed my mom found. It has sides so she doesn't roll out.

  • DS sleeps 10-11 hours a night and a 2-2.5 hour nap during the day. He is still in the crib and we will use it he climbs out. If we go out of town, he uses the pack n play.

  • DS sleeps around 10-11 hours a night. At daycare he usually naps for 1.5 hours. On the weekend he sleeps 2-3 hours. He is still in his crib and will be until he tries to climb out. When we travel he sleeps in the PNP.

  • 1.  He sleeps about 11 hours a night and then 1.5 for naps.  He's still in a crib but we really should transition it to his big boy bed soon.  He climbs out of the PnP when we are at our cabin so I think he's ready but I don't think he'll stay in it!

    2.  With DD when we would travel (after she had transitioned to her big girl bed) we bought this travel cot and she does great with it.  actually stays in it and doesn't fall out  We brought it with us to Mexico and Ohio - https://www.amazon.com/Regalo-Cot-Portable-Royal-Blue/dp/B000H1MRJO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1383704160&sr=8-2&keywords=Toddler+Travel+Bed

  • Alex sleeps about 10 hours at night and 1-2.5 hours for his nap, always different. He is still in his crib and hopefully will be for a while! So far he has not tried to climb out yet. We did buy a twin daybed and put it up in his room already, just because I didn't want to have to deal with a trip to Ikea and the assembly with a newborn, if Alex decides to then be ready for the move to a bigger bed. He had a rough night a couple nights ago and I slept in the daybed with him, which worked nicely. When we travel, he is still in his pack'n'play.

  • Emma sleeps about 11-12 hours a night and naps for maybe 45 minutes during the day. I cannot let her have a longer nap now because if she has a long nap, she will not STTN.

    sibling love

  • DS has been in a big boy bed since e was about 16 or 17 months I believe. He loves having more room so he's always slept better. During the week he gets 11 hours [i wake him up for DC] and on the weekends he gets 12. He takes a 2 or 3 hour nap also every day.

When we stay at a hotel we make sure we get a room with 2 queen beds or a sofa pull out bed and he sleeps in that by himself. I didn't even want to attempt the PnP, I don't think he would be very happy with me lol.

  • Grayson sleeps about 11-12 at night and about an hour to hour and a half at nap. We also recently transitioned and I bought the shruks travel bed from amazon, sorry mobile bumping so no link, it's nice cause I can use his crib sheets on it and it has higher sides. He did pretty well in on a trip to ds's dad's house two weekends ago so I would recommend that. He was definitely not going back in a pack and play...

TTC#1 May 2009- July 2010 on our own with no luck

Started with RE in August 2010, dx with unexplained IF and then finally our 3rd IUI cycle using Follistim and Trigger resulted in our wonderful little man.  Born 12/2/11

TTC#2 Never really prevented, but were careful early on as Dr. reccomended

Surprise BFP 12/16/13, started progesterone immediately as first numbers came back low, but betas were good.  Progesterone wasnt enough. Natural MC 12/24/13.

Back with RE as of January 2014...

  • DS sleeps about 10 hours during the week (goes down around 8pm, gets up about 6am) and takes about 2 hr naps at day care. On the weekends, he typically sleeps 11-12 hrs & still takes a 2 1/2 hr nap when we are home for him to do so. Otherwise he takes a couple car ride naps as he can. He's always been a good sleeper though. He was sleeping 4-5 hours in the middle of the day as a newborn-3mo old & then started STTN around 4mo old. With a few exceptions here & there (& a bad stretch recently that has <thank GOD!> gone away) he has been STTN since then.

He still sleeps in his crib. He's had no attempts to climb out. Unless that becomes an issue, I have no plans to transition him until the new baby is here & he has had time to adjust to that. I don't want to have too many big changes going on at once for him.

We really haven't spent any time out of town since he was born. Never used the PNP we got from my BIL yet. LOL

Does he still take the 3.5 hr nap since the transition & getting up 2 hrs earlier on you?

  • E sleeps 10-12 hours at night and is trying to drop his nap. He gets tired without one, but if I let him nap longer than half an hour (at the time after which I can usually successfully get him to fall asleep for a nap), then he'll be up until at least 10 pm at night. Sometimes he'll take an hour or so nap in the car because he'll fall asleep earlier for a nap if we're driving.

  • @mtb21
Maybe try shortening his afternoon naps for at least a little while? Maybe just to 2.5 hrs or however you think might be enough?  That might be just enough to make him want to stay in bed longer in the mornings.

With DS, if we have a crazy day & his nap doesn't happen until later in the day, I often will get him up no later than 4-5pm to be sure he will still want to sleep at night.
