Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

12 month vaccinations

I am not anti-vax nor have we ever delayed anything. I've just been wondering if everyone let their child have the 5-7 vax they usually get at the 1 year visit at one time. Especially when some of them are combo shots, it just  seems like a lot to me. If you have divided it into 2 visits which did you get first and how long did you wait to come back?

Re: 12 month vaccinations

  • Did they tell you s/he would have that many shots? We didn't get that many.

  • I was just looking at either the AAP or CDC chart and thats what it looked like. I can't remember from my older 2.

  • We got all recommended shots but it was not 5-7 sticks.  If I remember correctly, it was 3 sticks because one is a combo vaccine.

We got all the recommended at her 12m too.  I do not remember how many, but it was more than she has had at any other appointment (she had her flu shot that day too).  Besides the pricks themselves she did not seem to react any differently to getting more that day.

  • My kids have always gotten the recommended amount of shots. The amount of germs they're exposed to on a daily basis is so much more than what's in the vaccines.

  • We did all the recommended, which I believe was 3. She got 4 at her 15mos visit.

  • We had 12 and 15 month appointments so maybe ours were split between the two appointments....PPs comments made me think of that but I know that we didn't have 5-7 shots at one appointment.
  • 3 shots all at one visit
  • We always do all the recommended vaccinations, although I think like PPs they were split between 12 and 15 month visits because I don't remember ever getting that many at once.  My kids have zero reactions to vaccines other than crying right after, so I've never seen any point in splitting them up.

  • I've never divided up any of DS's shots, and he's never had trouble with them besides a little bit of tenderness and a couple of whiny nights. I'd rather do it all at once and get all possible side effects out of the way at the same time.

  • Our pedi does 6, 3 new ones and 3 boosters. We are splitting them up 3 weeks apart.
  • We did 3 plus the flu shot. Our pedi won't give more than 4 shots in a visit. The rest LO will get at the 15 month visit.

  • That seems like a lot.  We only got three and the flu shot.

  • At our 12 month appointment she got 3 shots, this was in April so no flu shot then. We did not get the Hepatitis A vaccine because the pediatrician says that can wait for a little while. I was okay with that.
