Jacob & John - Would you assume these are biblical references?

We have a 6 yr old named Jacob and we just found out that we're having another boy. We are considering naming this LO John in respect to DH's late grandfather. If you were these sibling names together, would you assume they were biblical references?

We are church goers, so it's not that big of a deal. Just curious what the general opinion would be.

If you picked maybe slightly more obscure biblical names, then yes.

Not really, when I see peoples names I rarely if ever see them in a religious context.

While its becoming more commonly used this may change for me, but when I hear Jacob I think biblical reference. Perhaps because the few I know were definitely named that to use a bible name.

John I don't as strongly associate with the bible, just because there are so many Johns. If that makes any sense

I am a church-goer and I would not assume you were purposefully using biblical names. They are both popular names and I would just assume you liked both.

I wouldn't necessarily consider them to be chosen on purpose for biblical significance. However, I am singing "John Jacob Jingleheimer Smith" in my head read now. Also not a big deal, but figured I might as well share.

Seeing as how Jacob is the most popular boy's name right now, and John is the most popular boys' name in the English language...no, I would make no assumptions about your religious proclivities.

Actually, I would. But that is because Biblical names are important to DH & I.

No, I'd think you have a thing for Js.

I guess it doesn't seems so Biblical to me since one is OT and the other NT. That probably doesn't make much sense, but that's my impression.

DH would consider it a biblical theme (he hates biblical names) but I wouldn't, as I think of them as more classic/traditional names than Bible names.
