Re: any updates on purpleiris or jadwedd?

  • Thank you for checking in on my girls and me. :) They've been in the nicu for 3 weeks now, and it's looking like several more weeks with one twin likely being discharged before the other, which will be a logistic nightmare since we're over a 100 miles from home. The girls have had ups and downs with breathing, but we're working on weaning from oxygen and getting them to take all feeds by breast or bottle. My husband is back home at work to save time off for when they are home. An extended nicu stay is hard, especially when we are all apart, but the doctors and nurses tell us they are progressing well for 32 weekers and just need time. It's so hard having your babies in the nicu, but their outlook is very positive, so I need to focus on that.

I hope you are doing well! I saw your post about getting everything done before the big arrival, and just wanted to tell you it will all be ok if it's not done. We thought we had lots of time, and then I was being life flighted on a helicopter in the middle of the night, I haven't been home in a month, and there is so much that I didn't get done. And it will all be ok. :)

  • @purpleiris. Nicu life is very hard indeed. My DS1 was a 35 weeker with only a 10 day NICU stay that I still have a hard time thinking about and he is 2 now, so I can not imagine all that you are going through. My sister had twins at 32 weeks with a 2 month NICU stay for one and 3 month for the other. They are now 4 and doing really well. You are a strong mama and are very right that they are getting the help they need. Hang in there. Hugs.
