Baby wearin' mamas

LO wants to be held all the time and I love holding him, but I need to start being able to do things around the house just to keep my sanity. I have an ergo that i use every time we are out, but it's not great for around the house for me. I am really interested in being able to do a high back carry and (soon) a hip carry. Is a woven the best for this combo? Is there anything that's a little easier to get on quickly that will let me do both? I have a moby too, but LO hasn't liked that one much now that we're past the newborn phase.

  • Wovens are great- you can find out if you like that style by making a DIY- I made a size 6 osnaburg wrap before purchasing a woven (because they can be very pricey). A LOVES it. The more you wrap, the faster and better you get at it.

    Here's a link that I used: DIY
I didn't dye mine, and if I made another I might not taper so deeply.

  • I have a woven and I like it, but still can't get comfortable with a back carry. I have the infantino mei tai and it's a cinch to get baby on my back with that!

For around the house I use my Mei Tai. It isn't very expensive and it is made by infantino. You can back and hip carry.

  • I like my woven for back and hip carries. I've never used a mei tai on the back.

  • I definitely need to get a woven one as well for back carry.  I have the Ktan and two ergo (one for each of us), but I think doing the back carry will definitely give me some more support!
    Good post.

I already have a k'tan, but I've been eyeing up the mei tai for back carry and will probably be buying it soon since it's relatively inexpensive. DH doesn't get why I need another..

This is me exactly. I really debated the Mei Tai vs Woven and after talking to a girl at one of our baby stores she convinced to do the mei tai. She had a woven and had sold her mei tai and said she liked both but she enjoyed the simplicity of putting LO into the mei tai out in public vs the woven. Especially when its raining or bad weather, she said it is more difficult to get lo quickly into the woven vs mei tai. I have gone to every target and walmart in my area to get the mei tai and have had no luck. I need to order online

  • I have both a mei tai and a woven. I like the MT for lots of quick stops and running lots of errands and the woven for longer periods of time; like around the house and at the mall.

Woven!! I have a sleeping baby on my back right now too :) I also like front and hip carries. There's a learning curve but once you can own a few carries it's awesome!

  • I'm looking into a mei tai right now and my sis tells me that the baby hawk mei tai is more comfortable than the infantino mei tai, because the straps are wider. She said the infantino can dig too much and became uncomfortable once her son reached 14 or 15lbs.

  • I love woven wraps. I felt my money was wasted by buying a thin wrap (cotton gauze). If you can afford a little bit more, the investment is WELL worth it. You can even try the budget babywearing swap on facebook where you can find a decent wrap for under $100.

I'm pretty stoked, I found this at a second hand shop for $5! It's an infantino sync and it's kind of a combo. It's easy to use and comfy so far. Yay!imageimage
I still want a woven, but now I can wait and ask for it for Christmas.
