We're thinking of getting Griff either a leap pad or inno tab for his birthday but we're not sure which one is better. I really don't know too much about these tablets so any advice is welcome. Are there other tablets out there? These are all touch screen, right?
TIA!
Re: Anyone have a leappad or innotab?
I love our tablet because it is small, has WiFi, has external storage (you can add an SD card), and runs on the Android base which I'm used to. We found it on sale for $175. DS uses it to read e-books (the apps we downloaded read aloud to DS), to watch movies that DH copied from DVDs onto the SD card, to watch Netflix, and to play a couple of games I downloaded. I can check my e-mail, Facebook, Instagram, and play Candy Crush =P
I have never used a Leap Pad, but I think the Leap Pad 2 does not have WiFi. I think you have to connect it to a laptop in order to download apps (which DH doesn't like). They just came out with a Leap Pad Ultra that does have WiFi, but it is about $150.

@babycakes - there are specific apps for the leap pad so I think it's the same you can get educational apps and just fun ones as well. My neice and nephew each have a kindle fire (9 & 6 years old) and they are so addicted to them. They are cheaper than an iPad significantly but as far as I know have most of the same functions with purchasing of apps from the playstore. I know my favorite function with them is that they can text me from their kindle fire to my cell lol

As far as the kindle fire, my step-father has one, and they're maybe just not as user-friendly as the ipad. I'm not sure hazel could navigate the kindlefire by herself as easily.
@babycakes - Before we got our tablet, a friend suggested giving DS an iPod Touch. They sell used ones at Game Stop stores around here. Oh, another thing I like about our tablet: I have an Android cell phone too. Any apps I buy on one device can be downloaded on the other device for free.
