Pre-natals that don't make you sick?

Hey ladies.

I am about 7 weeks along and I am having a prenatal vitamin issue.  I have always struggled with multivitamins making me nauseous so I would take them with lunch instead of breakfast.  The prenatals are killing me though.  No matter what time of day I take them they make my already unpleasant baby based nausea even worse.

Anyone out there with a sensitive tummy that found a prenatal that doesn't do this to you?

Re: Pre-natals that don't make you sick?

  • I use the Target brand. I've always taken mine before bed so I (hopefully) sleep thru the nausea.
  • Loading the player...
  • I take the Kroger brand prenatal gummy. It compares to Vitafusion. So. Far no issues.

  • I use the Target brand. I also take them right before bed. That way if they bother my tummy, I sleep right through it.

  • Do the gummy vitamins have as much stuff in them? I heard they lack a lot...anyone know? I'd Love to switch
  • I take Vitafusion prenatal gummies. I have had no issues with them whatsoever. They are also yummy! I take them right before I roll into bed.

  • A friend of mine told me to try the ones from Honest Co, they are supposed to be better for sensitive tummy gals.  I ordered them today.  We shall see.

Until I get them I like the idea of sleeping through the vitamin based stomach ache.  Good idea.
  • Target brand gummy prenatals!!!
  • Honest company! They can even be taken on an empty stomach : )
  • I take Vitafol One and I haven't noticed any side effects. Easy to swallow and maybe this is TMI but I don't get constipated on them. Hope this helps.

  • I take the new chapter brand. You have to take them 3 times a day, but they are really easy on my stomach.
  • So with my first pregnancy I took two Flintstones chewable. That's what the doc recommended cause I was getting so sick!

  • I take the Vitafusion Pre-Natal gummy vitamins but they have zero Iron. My doctor said it was ok as long as my blood work kept coming back that I wasn't anemic. She said to switch back to the Nature made ones that made me nausea as soon as I can stand it. But for now they will do the trick.

I take them at night right before I brush my teeth so I can sleep through the dizziness. HTH!

  • Prenate-mini My doc prescribed them! No nausea
  • New Chapter Prenatal vitamins. You can take them on an empty stomach. I have taken 2 at a time w no issues.

I also take Nortic berry DHA strawberry flavor. No fishy after taste.

  • With my last pregnancy they made me so sick I couldn't take them till the morning sickness subsided. Every time I took them I'd throw them up 10 mins later. This time around I've been taking target brand prenatal vitamins and it's been much easier and I've been able to keep them down :)

  • I started taking the New Chapter Perfect Prenatals (400mg folic acid and they have iron, but NO DHA).  I would take all 3 at a time, and starting getting a little sick.  I just didn't want to remember to take them at separate times during the day.
So then I started taking the Vitafusion gummy prenatals (800mg folic acid, they have DHA for brain development, but NO iron).

I have talked to both my GP and new OBGYN asking between the two options and they both said they preferred the 800mg folic acid in the gummies.  Iron (if needed) can be taken as a separate supplement.  Though she said if it makes me sick in 1st tri, it can wait until 2nd.  But it is very important to start taking in 2nd tri.
  • I've been taking the One a Day prenatals with DHA

so far i haven't felt any sicker after taking them.

  • I couldn't find a PNV that didn't make me sick. I take 1mg folic acid and 100mg b6. Dr says they are the most important.

  • New Chapter.
  • I take Intramax. It's basically a liquid vitamin. Your body absorbs it SO much better than any pill because of its liquid and gets into your blood stream quicker. I love it! It tastes amazing, I never feel sick afterwards, and it has way more vitamins and minerals than any prenatal vitamin - which is great for your body. It's a little pricey, but well worth it considering all it does for your body.
  • I have a really sensitive tummy normally even when not pregnant. I've found the Nature Made ones have been really easy to handle. Good luck finding something that works for you!
  • I had a sample from Honest Company and all I did was burp up the DHA pill all day long. Also, too many pills to take and too big (imho). Last time I took the vitafusion and an iron supplement and calcium chews. This time I'm taking the CVS version of One a day with DHA (2 pills). When I'm done with these I'm going to give the Nature Made withDHA a try. Its a small gel pill and thats it...more expensive, but I'd rather have to take one little pill than a horse pill and a DHA. I know a lot of people can't swallow large pills and take the flinstones, but I don't believe they contain DHA which is important for brain and eye development...just something to think about.

  • I have been taking USANA prenatals since February and never had any issues with them (2 different pills, twice a day).  Around week 5, I started getting nauseous so I cut back to taking them only once a day.  During my first appointment yesterday I asked my doctor if it was ok that I wasn't taking them twice a day.  After he looked at them, he told me to only take the one bottle for now as it had the important vitamins needed now.  Once my stomach gets stronger he told me to add the other one back in.

I was also taking calcium and fish oil.  I am now making sure to drink 2-3 glasses of milk a day and stopped taking the calcium one (he said my stomach probably doesn't like it).  I have continued the fish oil.  I feel better already!

  • I've been taking Belly Bar chewable prenatals. They have iron too!
