If you have a Kidkraft Kitchen and an older kid

Does it look really short? I've read a ton of reviews, and while some people say their 7-year-olds still love the kitchen, others are complaining it's too short for their 2-year-old. I want to get one for DS and DD to share at Christmas, but I don't want DS to already be outgrowing it. I'm looking at this one bc I like the design, and it's not ginormous like some of the others on the market.

  • OK, good. I think they would both have fun playing with it.

  • I found this on my phone, from early August. James is in the upper  90%s for height and is 2.5 in this picture. It is on the smaller side of kitchens but we bought it when he was 12 months old. He still plays with it pretty often. While Leo just takes everything out of the cabinets and then restocks them, James will sit and make dinner then wash all the dishes. He is often found making cupcakes and then letting me lick the spoon :)

OK, DS is a year older, but closer to 50% for height. Do you have accessories for it you like (pots and pans, food, etc?

  • Another option, if you can do 2 gifts is to do a play kitchen and then a kitchen helper stool for your actual kitchen. We got James the kitchen helper stool last year for Christmas and it has been a great purchase. He loves to help me in the kitchen and we let him wash the dishes sometimes too. If you guys are handy, there are DIY options on Pinterest.

I bought soft play food from Target that is actually dog toys. We real pans that I already had but never use, a single egg skillet and a small sauce pot. We have a plain frisbee that is a pan for the oven and a small mini cupcake pan. We also keep some  plastic cups, measuring cups and spoons, a bucket of plastic easter eggs, a hand held broom and dust pan, and dish towel in the cabinets. They have the M&D veggie cutter set too.

These are the dog toy sets.

  • Beckett is 6, and he still plays with the kitchen all of the time. Here he is cooking for a pal. It should be noted that he is very short for his age.

Ha, I doubt they were any cheaper but they were cute and squeak and crinkle and are made to be chewed, so it worked well.
