Decision time

I'm on CD3 and I need to decide if this month will be our first IUI. My only hesitation is we are in the process of moving to a city about 60 miles from where we currently live. We have been house shopping for about 3 months and there is very low inventory so we are having a hard time finding a home. I know there will never be a perfect time but a part of me thinks we should wait a few months until we find a home just in case it takes awhile and I have to move when I'm super pregnant. Plus I'm the one commuting right now so I'm scared to drive everyday and have my doctor 60 miles away just in case something happened. I was high risk last time and would probably be considered this time as well so I'm torn. Sorry that was a lot if rambling but wwyd? Do you say there is never a perfect time and go for it, knowing there is a small chance it actually works. Or do you wait until your life is a little more settled?

Re: Decision time

  • Personally, I would probably go for it.  If things worked out, I would just be over the moon, and the future chaos would seem minimal compared to the happiness and excitement of being pregnant again.  I wouldn't want to miss out an opportunity to get pregnant.

  • 100% I would wait. Moving is stressful, IUIs are stressful, the holidays fast upon us are stressful. I would want to make the most of my IUI and do it at a time when things were nice and calm, and I was happily settled in a situation. Plus like you said, who the eff would ever want to go through a move pregnant? Certainly not I.

Good luck with everything, you should definitely sit down and think everything through but it sounds like you've already come up with a pretty solid list of reasons to put it off a little bit.

  • I'd do it. I've moved twice while pregnant, and luckily had awesome family to help with heavy lifting. Who knows how long it'll be until you find a home you want to buy. Although, the high risk thing does add a twist. Good luck with your decision!

  • So 2 for and 1 against. I'm terrible at making decisions especially when it comes to this. I want it so bad that my rational side usually gets pushed to the side. Luckily DH can stay pretty level headed.
  • If it were me, I would go for it now. We had our house on the market for 6 months, knowing that there was a chance we could be moving when I was very pregnant or even with a newborn. I'm still not KU nor did our house sell. I just think at this point, I've waited long enough & there's not much I would postpone getting pregnant for...

  • I say go for it. You can't plan what's going to happen in your life, so I agree that there is no "perfect" time. I wouldn't want to miss a chance to be pregnant.

  • That's a tough decision.  Do you feel like you could go all in for this IUI or does it feel like it would be rushed?  One thing I learned from my FET (in early Oct) was that I needed to be all in, focused.  If you are worried about there being issues with moving, I'd wait until you're comfortable.

  • if you waited, do you feel like you would regret it? timing is never perfect but i feel like your chances of getting pregnant are better if you aren't stressed out, so i am on the fence.

    TTC #2 since 8/2012

    IUI #1 April 2014: BFN

    IUI #2 July 2014: BFN

    IUI #3 August 2014: BFN

    BFP: September 15, due May 22nd 2015

  • I feel like I would regret it because if we don't do it this month we will have to wait until February because of going out of town for Xmas and a January trip. So it's this month or wait a few months. But I also feel like at time we may have more of an idea of where we will live by February. But if we are in the same position in a few months I will be annoyed if we don't do it now.

I think I'm going to call and at least start clomid. I don't have to go all in then but at least I still have the option if I want to.
  • Do it. There is never a perfect time to be pregnant or have a baby. If you wait there will be other excuses, like the house needs to be painted, the roof needs to be repaired, or whatever millions of other things life throws at you.
