Success after IF

Trying to look at the silver lining???

So with our failed FET#2 behind us and our FET#3 in front of us, I am trying to look at something else to help me stay positive. Before we did our FET#2 I was trying to lose the baby/IVF weight i gained. I put on 27lbs while pregnant and 15lbs during the process for IVF#1 that we had to cancel due to OHSS. I lost all but 5lbs of pregnancy weight and the 15lbs of IVF weight, then just stayed there for a year! I was not the lucky one who lost weight breastfeeding (for a year!) so after we weaned, and began trying for #2 i started trying to lose the weight, long story short, I am now 2 lbs away from pre IVF (18lbs gone since august), and 7 lbs from my goal weight, I am hoping I can lose 7 more lbs in 6 weeks, before we go for our transfer on December 11.

Ok now to my question, I am mostly Paleo, (which is like carb and dairy free, I say mostly because I like ice cream, cheese and yogurt from time to time, and I once in a while indulge in a cupcake or sandwich) I work out, and I am doing the 30 days Planksgiving challenge ( the 5 min plank not the 3 min plank) and I am wondering if any one has any advice that would help me get over this last hump! The last bit is the hardest to lose!

Any Advice? TIp? Tricks?

(ps i am also hoping that being that I have PCOS, the weight loss will help me STAY pregnant this time, but I lost 18 lbs before not sure what 7 more will do but I am determined to try also my current BMI is 24.5, and after 7 lbs it will be 23.4, both in the normal range for my height.)

Thank you ladies! I know this got long, sorry!

Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses....
All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!

Re: Trying to look at the silver lining???

  • Unfortunately, I don't have any amazing tips but your plan seems great! If you haven't been exercising prior I think the Planksgiving challenge will do the trick! Adding a little bit of exercise in with a great diet always seems to give that extra kick you need. I did Jillian michaels 30 day shred a couple months ago and it worked wonders! I actually kept up with it cause it was only a 20 min workout daily. Good luck

  • Congrats on doing a great job, and keep up the great work. If you already eat paleo, (I do too) have you thought about trying a whole 30 or a 21 day sugar detox? That might be enough to push you over the plateau. I haven't done 21dsd but the whole30 is what got me off my baby weight plateau and into eating paleo. GL! And what a great attitude to look at the silver linings.

No what is a sugar detox? I have not heard if that? We did try a mono diet for 17 days before paleo, that helped rid us of all our cravings... Maybe i should try it again? Like a jumpstart?

Tell me about the 21/30 day sugar detox....

I don't know all the details of the 21dsd bc you have to download the PDF. But a lot of paleoans do the sugar detox. You just avoid natural sugars in addition to eating paleo for 21 days.
Whole30 has a whole website, but it's a 30 day clean eating challenge. No cheating for 30 days. I lost 17 lbs in 30 days when I did it.

  • I used to be really into weightloss and fitness (once upon a time many moons ago) and I would find that sometimes when I had been doing the same thing awhile that I would plateau.  You might try changing up your diet a bit...like maybe really concentrating not just on what you are eating, but also on calories.  I love myfitnesspal (an app and website) for tracking calories, nutrients, etc. Or maybe trying to add in some new type weight training or some additional cardio.  Sometimes I think our bodies just get used to what we are doing...
