I made a batch of lactation cookies tonight, hoping to get a bit of a supply boost. I was curious, if you've tried a lactation recipe, did you successfully increase your supply? By how much? How long did it take before you saw results?
I tried one of my friend's cookies and my supply increases the next day (more than any other day prior). I don't remember the exact amount but I take any ounce I can get. I haven't eaten them regularly, but I am going to start this week.
I noticed an increase with my cookies, maybe an ounce or two? It's taking me forever to build a small freezer stash for when I need to leave the baby with someone for a few hours so any extra amount I can get is great
I had to stop myself from eating them because they were so delicious and I was turning into Pamela Anderson. Monster lactation cookies!! 1/2 cup (1 stick) softened butter/margarine 1 cup white sugar 1 cup + 2 Tbsp brown sugar 1.5 cup peanut butter 3 eggs (room temp) 1 tsp vanilla 2 tsp baking soda 2 Tbsp brewer's yeast (not regular yeast- brewer's can be found at any health food store) 2 Tbsp flaxmeal soaking in 4tsp warm water (Publix and Walmart sell this) 3 3/4 cup old fashioned oats (for a huge impact use steel cut, but texture wise is better with rolled) 1 bag of butterscotch chips OR 1 medium bag of M&Ms OR 1 bag of chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 325 Soak flaxmeal in warm water Mix butter, white sugar, and brown sugar with electric mixer until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing until creamy after each addition Add vanilla Add peanut butter and mix until creamy Sprinkle baking soda and brewer's yeast, and also add moistened flax- mix well. Add oats and mix until oats are well-coated. Add chocolate chips and mix well. Scoop onto ungreased sheet, allowing 2" between scoops. Press 4-5 M&Ms into each cookie. Bake 15-18min Yield: 3-4 dozen
I got a steel oats granola bar recipe on Pinterest. Ate 3 bars the first day and that evening was te first time we didn't have to supplement in two weeks. That was 2 weeks ago, no supplementing since!

I just made a batch and I hate you all! They are so delicious! I was trying to get back in shape, but if these work, I guess a few cookies a day won't hurt.
I freeze the dough in pre-portioned balls and just bake 2-3 daily in the toaster oven (so I don't heat up the house with the oven). Otherwise I'd eat the whole batch in a few days!
I just made them yesterday. Pumped this am after bf DD and I typically pump about 45mL.This am I pumped 75. May be coincidence, but hopefully it stays up!
I have noticed a big increase. I usually eat 3-4 a day. I went from needing to supplement and pumping maybe 3 oz a session when she hadn't eaten in a while to pumping 6oz a session or so and not supplementing at all.
I want to try the recipe with PB because it sounds delicious. I just got my yeast and flaxseed meal at the grocery store.
I also portioned out balls and froze them so I can just bake a few at a time. It helps me control the cookie eating and makes it so they don't get icky before I eat them all.
I made the mistake of cutting the amount of sugar in an attempt to make them healthier. They taste like ass, but I'm not wasting the money and throwing them out. Next batch will have to be tweaked.

I will say I didn't like them warm out of the oven like I normally love cookies. They were better the second day I couldn't taste the flax seed and yeast flavor went away

Drizzle some melted chocolate over them! Or dip them in melted chocolate!

I make this recipe and they are SO good! I got the yeast at Vitamin Shoppe and it's the TwinLab brand.

The recipe said to eat 2 cookies a day, but I'm hoping for a big boost (I only get 1 oz when I pump) so I might eat a few extra.
