Primrose Preschool experience?

DH and I are considering moving DS to Primrose when he turns 3 and begins preschool. The curriculum and activities seem more creative and academic than he has currently (also a national chain center). It is also next door to where I work. The parking lots almost adjoin. That would be a real plus.

Anyone have any experience with Primrose? We are taking a tour next Monday when DH and I can both go. I realize they are a chain and each is run by a different staff, but does anyone have any experiences, good or bad?

  • I was going to take a tour of this daycare but they flat out refused to give prices over the phone.  I am not going to take 1-2 hours off work to go tour a facility that is not in my price range.  If people give it good reviews I may change my mind.

That would seriously piss me off.  That smacks of "if you have to ask the price, you probably can't afford us," and that attitude would be a turn off for me.  Primrose is fairly highly rated where I live (DC suburbs) and we would likely look at them when it comes time to move DS to preschool, but if I get the same type of response, I might reconsider.

  • We got prices from Primrose over the phone. I don't think it's a company policy.

Of course, my experience ends there because we couldn't get off the waiting list and ended up choosing another place. When we finally did get off the waiting list, we decided not to move her because we were happy.

  • I have had kids in a Primrose center for more than 4 years, and have been happy with it. It was the most expensive place we looked at, but I liked it a lot better than the other places.

  • Each center is going to be different...even if it is a chain. You should ask the school for parent recommendations. I've done them before for the school lo goes to...and even talked to some moms offline about it after initial contact.
