Off baby topic... Fashion question?!?

Ok... So I just don't even know who else to ask! So I'm turning to you guys...
Tomorrow we are taking our maternity / holiday/christmas pictures.... It has taken me so long to find something to wear and I finally found a red sweater from the gap that I think I want to wear... My only problem is ...
What should DH wear?? Like what color? He will be wearing jeans but unsure what color he should wear or maybe he should wear a pattern??
Our engagement pictures turned out horrible because we didn't look at all like we belonged together and our colors clashed...
Sooo any ideas?? (:
I'm wearing a red sweater, (jeans or tights, and a pair of riding boots...

    Jeans or black pants, white button down shirt, and a tie with hints if red in it (to coordinate with you).

    This. Black sweater with jeans. Don't know of any guy that doesn't look good in this outfit. If you wanted to "coordinate" what about a red collared shirt under his sweater.

    What color are the boots? If they are brown, unless light brown then no black. I'm really anal about certain shades of brown and black together though... I agree with PP though about black, white, navy and tan. No patterns, as a photographer I always try to recommend solid colors to clients because patterns on men (especially for a maternity shoot) can be really distracting and pull the focus to him.

    I think a chocolate brown, navy or cream colored sweater for your H. No black if your boots are brown and white stands out a bit too much in photos, especially against red.

    He could even wear a very small gingham checked red button down. If the pattern is subtle enough I don't think it would be too matchy.

    I wore a red shirt for our maternity shoot and DH wore button-down shirt that was mostly gray with thin red stripes.  I thought it looked really nice - like we coordinated but did not match perfectly. Maybe you could look for a shirt or sweater with a little bit of red? It also helps you look coordinated if you are both wearing jeans on the bottom but different colors on top. There are a lot of good tips if you google "what to wear family pictures"

    Thanks! I googled and searched via Pinterest for lots of things but could never find anything about red ... We are going for a quick shopping trip tonight... Maybe I'll find something with a bit of red then! Thanks.

    I personally do not like black and red together. Red will be great for you, jeans, brown boots. Him: he can do a navy tartan button down with hints of red. Pair this with dark wash denim, brown belt and brown shoes. Patterns all the way for him. If neither of you do a pattern the photo will look flat. If he doesn't like pattern then tell him to go with a pattern like plaid and put a sweater on top so you only see the collar, cuffs, and bottom of shirt. He goes not need to tuck in shirt ;) I'm a personal shopper, it's my thing ;);)

    I would have him wear cream/white or something with a touch of red in it to pick up the color of your sweater so you kind of compliment each other. (I'm always a big fan of matching though ... So if you don't like that look - don't listen to me lol )
