Parenting after a Loss

Once Upon a Child? (Martinimomma)

DD is about to outgrow her 0-3 month sleepers at 8 wks old (yes she is a chunkster) and I have no 3-6 month clothes - after 6 mos we have a good stash but not 3-6. However, I have all of DD's lovely and barely worn newborn and 0-3 mo clothes. I'm thinking about making a trek to a OUAC and see what they're like and perhaps sell her too small clothes and a few other items we won't be using (ie a new in box baby bjorn and some toys) for credits to get some 3-6 mo clothes if they have any I like.

Because it is a drive to get to one, I have never been and have no prior experience with OUAC. Have any of you ladies? Is the sale back reasonable or worth it, in your experience? Curious for your experiences. Thanks!

  • I've mostly been lurking the past three months...  But... I have had great luck buying things at Once Upon a Child.  Halloween costumes, carters fleece sleepers brand new with tags, a really really cute sweater for $5 (originally $75+ according the the website for the brand- insane!).

I would try to take the baby bjorn back to either babies r us or buybuy babe, or even target.  As long as it is in their system, they could at least give you store credit (target has a cap of $80 per year I think, without a receipt).

  • We have OUAC in our area but we are starting to get some Kid to Kid stores that are a little higher end. From what I understand most of the places are pretty picky and like PPs said you don't get much.

I am thinking about craigslisting the bigger stuff and donating the clothes to a local group that helps teen moms or a domestic violence shelter for a little tax write off.

  • This isn't in answer to your question but I got a lot of clothes for DD on Facebook by joining groups where people sell items. There are quite a few groups in my area that are devoted to children's items and even one that is exclusively children's clothing. These are the best deals I have found and most of the items are like new since the kiddos grow out of the clothes so quickly. Just do a search and see if you can find one in your area and ask around.

  • I know I am late to this party, but I got Stuart Weitzman sandals for Alice for $10. I also got her a Calvin Klein sweater (new with tags) for $8.50. I got her a disney princess rocking horse for $8.50 as well. I freaking love OUAC. LOL
