Do not fear the membrane sweep ladies!!!!!!!!!
Okay.... well I know it hurts like heck for some people. I went into it today thinking it was going to be the worst thing ever because of a thread on here. But- there is hope!! It wasn't any worse than the internal exam I was already getting.
Just wanted to put my 2 cents out there- it's not necessarily going to be god awful- that had seemed to be the consensus that I had read here. My attempt at helpful advice....

Good luck mamas!
Re: Dreaded membrane sweep...
I would be willing to try it next week (past my EDD) so good to know that the procedure isn't necessarily scary bad.
I lost large amounts of mucous (tmi) fir three days after ward and had some mild spotting.I'mhoping that tomorrow's strip will set of labor since last week's didn't. I'm 4cm 75% effaced so I'm pretty frustrated with the fact that it didn't work. At least I know that LO will be here in the next three weeks lol

Today is my due date so my doctor went ahead and did the membrane sweep... hoping for results because I really don't want to be induced.
It was not painful.
I've never been so dilated when I had it done at other times nor has it ever been so vigorous--so I think a lot has to do with how gentle your doctor is in doing it.
