Lincoln has had a case of the snots for going on two weeks. No big deal, 'tis the season, right? Well, now he has not been sleeping, and due to the busyness of the past week he is run down. We saw my mom yesterday and she claimed he felt feverish. I didn't give him any Tylenol because I didn't agree he felt hot. I did agree with her that his breath stunk.
Anyway, he woke up at 4:45 this morning and despite medicine, rocking, back massaging and scratching, he would not go back down. We finally made him CIO. He finally slept again at nearly 6:30. It is 9:52 and he is still resting. This is a record for him, despite him generally being a late sleeper. His doctor's office has Saturday hours, which I am entirely thankful for. But, it is with the doctor I don't like so please cross your finger or say a prayer or something that this lady acts competently today!

It was a different lady and she was awesome. When Lincoln woke up he was acting jovial so I almost cancelled the appointment. We have new insurance effective yesterday but no ID cards yet and I didn't want to cough up $200. I went to the appointment anyway since he once had an ear infection and I didn't know. Anyway, we got there and they wanted to culture his throat but again I didn't think he needed it but they grabbed him before I could consent or deny so I just went with it.
Needless to say, I am glad my cheapskate ways didn't interfere with him getting treated because he has strep! Poor baby! When he was an infant, I was a nervous FTM so if he so much as looked at me sideways I would bring him to the doctor. I would never not go because of money (hopefully as evidenced by my keeping the appointment) but I hate to take up an appointment for a truly sick kid if mine is acting more bizarre than sick. Lesson learned! Those mom instincts exist for a reason.
Oh, and Sam's Club FTW! His meds without insurance were only $4. And I quote, "Oh, yeah, if you used your new insurance this would cost much more!" Gotta love insurance!
