Babies: 9 - 12 Months

10 month eating schedule.

Hi I was wondering what a typical day of eating consists of for other babies of/around 10 months.

DS has breakfast usually something he can feed himself or yogurt and a 4 oz sippy cup of formula.

midmorning snack with sippy cup of water.

Lunch either something I cook or baby food if he is at grandparents. with 4 oz sippy cup of formula.

Afternoon snack and 4oz sippy cup of formula.

Dinner whatever we eat and sippy cup of water.

8 oz bottle before bed.

He has 20oz of formula a day, is that sufficient or does it need to be more since he is 10 months?

  • Our daughter will be 10 months on the 5th.  We do the following:
    6.5 oz bottle
Cereal w/ 1/2 pouch baby food

    Nap

    6.5 oz bottle
    6.5 oz bottle

    Nap

Homemade baby food (about 3 oz)
    6.5 oz bottle

    Down for the night

We've been offering a few finger foods but she doesn't really have the hang of that yet.  We've given her Baby Mum Mum crackers, homemade frozen yogurt drops, and bits of bread.  We also do fresh fruit through a mesh feeder.

  • DS nurses when he wakes up, every 3ish hours during the day, at bedtime, plus/minus once overnight. I haven't noticed any major decrease in his intake relative to when he was EBF.

For breakfast he usually eats a scrambled egg with cheese.

If we're eating something good for him, he gets that for lunch, but he doesn't always get a specific lunch.

He eats whatever we're having (meat and veggie) for dinner. He's obsessed with meat--he often eats almost as big a portion as I do.

He also has puffs or baby crackers a few times throughout the day, and has access to water in a sippy cup, although he hasn't really gotten into drinking it yet.

  • My pedi said at his 9 month appt that it was fine if he was only drinking 15 oz or so a day.

  • @ObLaDi, do you feed a regular scrambled egg or just the yolks?  I thought at this age they're only supposed to have yolks.  We haven't tried offering any egg products

  • My DD turned 10 months a week ago, our schedule is usually:

6:30 (or anywhere in the early morning hours) - nurse
7:45: breakfast (combo of a few things, pancakes, eggs, muffin, fruit, yogurt, applesauce etc.)
    9:00: nurse before nap
    11:30: nurse if she will
12:30: lunch (fruits, veggies, cheese, yogurt etc.)
    1:30: nurse before nap
    4:30: nurse
6:00: dinner (usually what we're eating)
    7:00: nurse before bed

Sounds like a lot of nursing but she doesn't seem to take a lot at most of them.  I offer water with most of her meals but I just hand it to her a few times to take some sips and then I take it back because she'll drink too much if I let her, and then wouldn't nurse.

  • DS is 10 months old too, and i'm so glad you posted this because i recently have been twerking his food plan. DS doesn't really have a interest in eating solids too much unless we're out and about or at dinner at a family member's house.

Wake up 830 & has breakfast- 4 oz of forumla oatmeal and a 6 oz cup of yogurt
Nap at 10:30-1pm- plays for a little then has lunch
Lunch- A baby food "meat" is what we call them. example turkey & rice, chicken noddle, etc. a fruit and veggie baby food.
Plays for a little, we run errans, go to the park, etc.
3:30-4  5 oz bottle, and takes a nap
6:00-6:30- wakes up plays, then we feed him a Stage 3 baby food, fruit, and veggie
Then bottle before bed around 9.

DD is 11.5 months, she started favoring food over nursing about a month ago so this is what our day looks like. Of course all times are approximate and vary day to day.
    8am wake up, nurse
9am breakfast ( usually oatmeal cooked in WCM and banana, or sometimes scrambled eggs, cheese, toast.), sippy of water
    Nap
12pm lunch (what I eat), sippy of water
3.30pm snack ( fruit and cheese), sippy of water
    Nap
6.30pm dinner (what we eat), sippy of water
    8pm nurse and bed

@cvpis4me whoops I just saw this tag! We feed the whole egg. I think the whites are potentially more allergenic, but he has no issues with them.
