Sorry, Canadians. I know your day has come and gone but I am so flipping excited to make food! It's what will get me through our slew of houseguests.

Typical menu? At my parent's house, it's a standard and extensive menu: Herb roasted turkey, bread stuffing in the bird even though I beg my Dad not to, Cornbread dressing, green bean casserole, rutabaga puree, roasted brussels sprouts, sweet potato casserole, cranberry lime sauce, cranberry orange relish, canned cranberries (We like our cranberries), mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls, pumpkin pie and apple pie. I am sure I am forgetting something.

I'm cooking this year and there will only be three of us. I always do a spatchcocked turkey and I think I will do cornbread wild rice dressing. Beyond that, I am not sure what to do. I may later post a menu and you can all tell me what to make.

I have never made the same menu twice. I like playing around since I get to have the traditional holiday when we are with my parents.

What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition?

Making homemade butter. My parents made me do it and now they make my niece and nephews do it. I can't wait to make Howell make it.

Favorite food?

Dressing or cranberry sauce. Also PIE.

Where are you going/who is coming to dinner?

FIL is coming to us. It will be small but we will make the best of it.

What's your favorite pie/dessert?

I can't decide between apple and pumpkin. My Dad's apple pie but my pumpkin.

Macy's parade!

What does everyone fight over every year?

Who has to sit next to Uncle John at my house. If we were going to H's house, who has to sit next to Auntie Barb. Also, whether or not we should retire green bean casserole. My Dad loves it and no one else touches it. Oh and since my sister and I got married, Football or parade. Oh, and to stuff or not to stuff the bird.

Are you cooking or just eating?

This is all me. I am making the whole damn thing. Yay!

Light meat or dark meat?

Light but I prefer thighs when it's chicken.

What are you drinking with your meal?

H got two $40+ bottles of red wine that we will drink. Usually I prefer red wine but my parents also serve gewürztraminer. FIL likes port so I will get some to have with dessert. We're lushes, apparently.

Typical menu?
Turkey, preferably smoked on the grill. Ham with sweet glaze for DH. Some kind of potato. Some kind of green vegetable. Gravy. Homemade cranberry sauce. Pie with Trader Joe's pumpkin ice cream.

Ummm, eating? Leftovers?

Favorite food?
The turkey.

Where are you going/who is coming to dinner?
I think we'll be at either my house or my mom's and it's probably just going to be us and my mom.

What's your favorite pie/dessert?
I like apple pie a lot. With ice cream. And whipped cream.

I care about neither.

What does everyone fight over every year?
Nothing, since we usually make enough food for an army.

Cooking.

I prefer white meat.

What are you drinking with your meal?
Hard cider or beer. Or this tasty cocktail that you make by mixing sparkling apple cider, bourbon, and bitters.

Typical menu?

My Parents - Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn, broccoli casserole, cranberry sauce, apple and pumpkin pie.
DH Family - Most of the time they make ham, ribs or some kind of pork...and then the usual sides. I do like the rolls they make.

What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition?
Watching the Parade and eating! haha

Favorite food?
Turkey...YUM!

Where are you going/who is coming to dinner?
We will be going to my parents for dinner around 1 and then stopping in at the in-laws on the way home. Where MIL is planning a dinner even though DH's Aunt is making dinner earlier....

What's your favorite pie/dessert?
Pumpkin pie, though apple is close 2nd

Macy's Parade though we always end up watching football too

What does everyone fight over every year?
Nothing really. we are all pretty civil. Only drama we ever have is when we don't get to DH family right on time that we said.

Just eating and eating...

Light meat with lots of gravy. Never been a fan of dark meat but that's DH's fave

What are you drinking with your meal?
Probably just iced tea.

Typical menu?
Turkey, crumbled bread stuffing (in the bird), green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole with marshmallows, mashed potatoes, candied carrots, gravy, rolls, and for dessert pecan pie, pumpkin pie, cheesecake, and two kinds of apple pie.

What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition?
Everything. It's my favorite holiday! But if I had to be specific, I love the night before Thanksgiving at my parent's house, when they are prepping everything for the next day, and everyone is dancing around each other in the kitchen, doing their own thing. Oh, and it smells glorious!

Favorite food?
Hands down, green bean casserole

Where are you going/who is coming to dinner?
My favorite is at my parent's house. DH's parents do it at theirs too but they do it wrong. Haha! So we will be doing both, T and I will hang out at my parents' house and H will be at his parents', then we will meet up after for dessert at the IL's.

What's your favorite pie/dessert?
Pecan pie...mmm

Football or Macy's Parade?
Macy's Parade. I despise football. And basically all organized sports.

What does everyone fight over every year?
Leftovers. My aunt and grandmother always bring their own tupperware and every year, my dad says he isn't giving out leftovers, but every year, he can't say no, and we end up with nearly nothing haha!

Are you cooking or just eating?
Cooking and eating this time. In the past it's just been eating but now that I know what I'm doing in the kitchen, I plan on being my dad's right hand kitchen assistant

Typical menu?

Turkey, stuffing, cranberries, green bean casserole, dinner rolls, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes and gravy, and desserts. My mom will probably make a german chocolate cake from scratch for Thanksgiving / her birthday (26th of November).

What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition?

I don't know that we have a tradition, per se...

Favorite food?

Stuffing and cranberry sauce.

Where are you going/who is coming to dinner?

We are going to New Mexico to visit with my Mom. She'll be turning 50 a couple days before Thanksgiving this year, so we're going mainly for that reason.

What's your favorite pie/dessert?

I really like German Chocolate Cake and Coconut Cake.

Football or Macy's Parade?

I've never really watched either. Dh used to go play football with some church friends when we lived in the city, but since we moved I'm not sure what he'll do.

What does everyone fight over every year?

I really can't think of anything that we fight over. Ask me after Thanksgiving, and my memory will be refreshed.

Just eating this year because we'll be flying into New Mexico on Thanksgiving Day.

Either.

Probably milk, can't do a soda because I've given them up for November. I'm starting to regret that decision.

Typical menu? Turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, jellied cranberries, rolls Chicken and Noodles and sweets.

What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition? Looking at all the ads and plotting our Black Friday shopping route.

Favorite food? I love my dad's stuffing that he makes and my grandpas chicken and noodles.

Where are you going/who is coming to dinner? We are going to my parents house and then my husbands two families.

What's your favorite pie/dessert? I'm a huge Pumpkin Pie fan, and just recently started loving Pecan Pie as well.

Football or Macy's Parade? Both!

What does everyone fight over every year? My family never fights but my inlaws always fight over our time. Nothing is ever good enough for them.

Light meat or dark meat? I like light meat but I can eat either.

What are you drinking with your meal? I'm not sure, I do know that when we visit the inlaws there will be some type of alcohol involved, I just can't take them.

Everything? It's seriously my favorite meal of all time.

We'll be at my parent's house this year with a few of my siblings. Grandparents from both sides will probably be there as well.

We typically have a turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, rolls, cranberry sauce (just for me), and pies.

What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition?

I just enjoy having a relaxing time with family. I actually enjoy Thanksgiving more than Christmas because there is no pressure of gifts. Just good, plan family time.

Favorite food?

Green bean casserole and cranberry sauce. It just isn't Thanksgiving without it.

Where are you going/who is coming to dinner?

I have no idea yet. There is a lot of things up in the air. I know we won't be going to my DH's family this year because I have no PTO.

What's your favorite pie/dessert?

Pecan. DELICIOUS!!!

Football. I don't see the fun in watching the parade. It bores me.

What does everyone fight over every year?

We normally have far too many leftovers so no fights needed. Maybe the wishbone?

I will just be eating. I have amazing cooks in my family so it is all up to them.

I prefer ham instead of turkey on Thanksgiving. However, I normally would pick dark.

What are you drinking with your meal?

Either a glass of wine or just water.

Typical menu? My mom serves the basics: turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, carrots, Brussels sprouts, green bean casserole, roles, and pies. She cooks for my dad's extended family and they are pretty traditional. When DH and I hosted for friends in Florida, I tried to be a bit creative with the traditional items. We are hosting his family this year AND going to my parents, so I will get to plan a menu! I am going to work on it this weekend.

What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition? Um...? We are just not that into Thanksgiving. We have a lot of Christmas traditions, but Thanksgiving is kind of quiet around our house. I guess sitting around in front of the fire or watching a Christmas movie after everyone has gone home would be my favorite! When we lived in Florida, we had some nice traditions with friends, but that has changed since moving back up north.

Favorite food? Mashed potatoes.

Where are you going/who is coming to dinner? We are hosting DH's immediate family. We're also going to my parents house (they live like four blocks from us, so this is NBD.) This is new - usually DH's family celebrates with another family, but it would have been 30 people this year because all the kids are now married with in-laws and kids of their own, so we ended that tradition due to space.

What's your favorite pie/dessert? I don't really care for pies. I like apple crisp, so that's what I usually make. (My apple crisp was pretty famous among our group of friends in Florida, I must say.)

What does everyone fight over every year? Sorry, we are just not fighting people. We are good, practical midwesterners.

What are you drinking with your meal? Okay, I guess this is a tradition: DH and I always get a bottle of King Estate Pinto Noir. It goes perfectly with turkey!
