Columbia OB/gyn

Hi there,

Although I am not pregnant yet, I have been TTC since September; however, my firm just changed insurance and I need to find a new OB/gyn.  I would prefer to deliver at Columbia (168th Street Campus) as I live in Westchester but work in Midtown.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks.

J.

Re: Columbia OB/gyn

  • I used Dr. Perez Delboy at Columbia and loved her!

  • Thanks.  Does she only deliver high-risk?
  • Yup, I was high risk as well.  Her whole practice is high risk and whatever docs I met were all great.
  • I think but she may have some docs in her practice that dont.
  • I also replied to your post on The Nest! Highly rec Jessica Fiorelli who is my current doc or Silvana Ribaudo who delivered my son. Both deliver at NYP-Columbia. Fiorelli's office is right around the corner, she's there on Thursdays and else where in the city on other days.

  • Thanks so much!  I appreciate all the responses!
  • Haven't delivered yet, but so far I really like Dr. Mari Su.

  • Also go to Dr. Mari Su and so far she's been good.  I am 14 weeks.
  • Hi I went to J. Fiorelli and would like to give you a fair warning. I went there because a friend of my recommended her so I was pretty relaxed about changing my  OB in the middle of pregnancy.
So here is in short my story. I have hypothyroidism and twin pregnancy, otherwise everything is OK. Before moving to NYC area I had awesome doctors so I couldn't even imagine the stress that a bad doc can cause.
After initial blood testing her nurse called to say that my thyroid levels are off but gave me no numbers of anything because doctor will call… it took 2 weeks of my calling back and forth to get her on the phone to tell me that labs were probably wrong (???!!!!!) and we will repeat the test. So if you have any brains you would not schedule your patient with unbalanced thyroid levels for a repeat in 3 weeks… by that point my levels were off for 5 weeks!!!!! I repeated the test and than she called me back after a week to change the prescription. The unbalanced thyroid is very dangerous for your baby and if you feel comfortable seeing the doctor that I just described … go for it.
I have called million times got my tsh levels from the nurse and adjusted medicine by my self so all together I was off for max 3 to 4 weeks.
Also I have changed OB once again and talked with my new one about this issue and he said that unadjusted doses may influence babies intelligence by 4% … he wanted to say how the damage may not be that huge… but I really don't feel comfortable even thinking about my whole Columbia NYP experience….
Also billing department of this hospital if like mafia run ..they charged someone else's insurance for the bill I payed out of pocket… meaning they charge twice for the same thing and do not want to send me my itemized bill so I can get reimbursed … perhaps that is how you pay for all fancy buildings and furniture.

    these just my 2c
