STMs who nursed their 1st...

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I had super sensitive nipples/boobs almost immediately. That symptom didn't let up until after the first trimester. I nursed my daughter until 15 months and the day I stopped nursing was the day I got my bfp (just when I thought I would have my body back, go figure!!). So far, I haven't had any sensitive nipples and I'm wondering if this is normal for nipples to be different after nursing.

Anyone else have this experience?

  • I am still nursing DS, nothing too bad here. A tiny sensitive but they dont hurt, hurt.

  • Sore breasts/nipples were also my first pregnancy symptom last time around, and I mean majorly sore.  Like, couldn't-sleep-on-my-stomach sore.  I nursed DS for almost a year so it's been a few months since we stopped.

I haven't noticed any sensitivity at ALL yet, which I think is strange.  I have no idea if it's related but now that you got me thinking of it, I will let myself think that my boobs are just tougher this time around. :)

  • I haven't noticed any sensitivity this time. It's been awhile since I bf DS, though. We stopped when he was 15 months.

  • This makes me feel better, like it might be common since our nipples have been through the ringer :-) Thanks ladies!

  • Yep, normal. I don't know if it is breastfeeding related though, or just that your nipples are less responsive to pregnancy hormones because you have already been pregnant before. You still might have some tenderness further into your pregnancy though.

  • I'm still nursing my DD and I haven't had too much tenderness yet. I'm hoping to keep nursing until either she weans or the sensitivity gets worse.

  • Um, I'm still nursing DS and my nipples HURT!  Actually, we seem to have gone cold turkey as of this week partly because I'm so sore and DS is doing really well with going to bed.  Naps are another story.  Anyway, very tender here.  I think lots of things are normal, though.

This is me exactly. I nursed DS for almost 19 months...he last latched on maybe 3-4 weeks ago (briefly). I keep waiting for the super sensitive boobs, but so far they barely tingle. Interesting...

  • I'm gradually weaning DD and I haven't had any pain or sensitivity.  I just decided that I want my boobs back until July.

  • I am still nursing DS. I noticed about a week ago that my nips were super sensitive. It hurt when he latched and when he nursed. Now everything is back to normal. I've heard that pregnancy can help dry you up and I'm kind of hoping for that.

  • I think I have more sensitivity this time, although it's been over 18 months since M weaned.
  • I nursed my DD until 23 months. Sore boobs were my first symptom with her. This time it's not sore nipples or tender breast but it feels like let down is happening all the time. Has been since 5dpo
