Because my midwife was absolutely no effing help, Question regarding fever

I had my whooping cough vaccine and flu shot yesterday.

Today I feel like I am coming down with the flu-achy, tired, slight increase in the amount of Braxton hicks, and a fever of 101 that started this afternoon. I usually never get sick or fevers, even during my pregnancy with DD. I put a call in to my midwife and she said to stay hydrated and give it 48 hours, if I still have a fever to then call my GP. I felt as though she completely blew off my entire call and quite frankly I am a little pissed. In the mean time, I am trying to avoid Dr. google, but reading through some of my pregnancy books to see what to do for fevers. Currently, I am resting on the couch, drinking as much water as possible and trying to take it easy.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Sorry for my most likely massive amounts of grammar mistakes. I feel too crappy and lazy to edit right now.

  • My OB said taking Tylenol is fine for keeping fever down. Otherwise, I'd also stay on top of fluids, and rest! Hope you feel better soon.

  • I'd say it sounds as though you're doing exactly what you should be. I hope the fever passes quickly!
  • I echo Tylenol. That was on my approved meds list. I hope you start to feel better soon!

  • I would definitely call your GP. Doctors like to know if you have a fever after getting a vaccine, I can't remember what temp they said for me. I think it was 100?

  • Tylenol....it's all I'm allowed for headaches so hopefully it works for fevers.  I don't know what they have over there that's similar but over here we have Tylenol cold & flu.  Ask your local chemist as they'll probably help way more than your midwife.  Sorry she was such a jerk!
  • Thanks everyone! I managed to find a bottle of Tylenol that wasn't expired :) Hopefully, this will do the trick.

  • Hope the Tylenol brings it down for you! Besides that, I'd say the usual fluids & rest is all you can do. 101 I wouldn't say is too high & it is rather early. The 48 hours wait suggestion is probably a good thing. Your body should be able to take care of it.  However as PP said, letting your GP know isn't a bad idea either, just so they know when a fever appears after a shot is administered at least.

  • Paracetamol is the same thing, totally fine to take and good for fevers.
  • Hope you start feeling better soon!
