Mommy and Daddy time!

DH and I got to go away to the mountains all by ourselves this weekend!  We dropped Jane off with my parents and enjoyed a weekend of rest!  Literally - we went to bed early, slept late, took a nap, and went to bed early.  There was a little bit of shopping, a movie, and a dinner, but other than that we were either sleeping or sitting in bed watching TV (we don't have cable at home).  Meanwhile, DD was getting spoiled like crazy by her adoring grandparents.  It was the first time I've ever spent a night away from her.  It was very nice, but I was definitely glad to see her again this afternoon!

  • That sounds great! I love laying around and it's probably what I miss the most from my pre-baby days! We have yet to leave Alexander overnight anywhere and I know it's going to have to happen soon. We need a weekend of rest and relaxation, too!

lol. DH has been gone since the 27th and won't be home until the 8th. So it's possible that that is just on my mind these days. But a weekend of sleeping....honestly sounds amazing.

Hang on....what?! No overnights???? My mom takes DS usually once a month for us and it's awesome! DH and I have drinks at home and stuff when DS goes to bed but when we can actually go out and sleep in until 8am, I feel like I'm on vacation! LOL
We haven't done any overnight trips away from DS either. He's such a terrible sleeper we've never wanted to torture anyone else with a sleepless night. I've been waiting for him to have better nights before we went away... but I'm thinking that's not going to happen any time soon and we should just go for it.

We have never left them over night either. I wouldn't know what to do with myself!

  • It's funny how we are all different. We've left DD overnight 6 times and only 2 of those were for only one night. Most were 2-3 nights with one 4 nighter in there. We love getting a night without her. Granted, most of those nights were for a competition or wedding or something. But still nice.

This was the first time we've left her - it was actually really nice.  She's not a great sleeper, either, but she actually slept really well at my parents'!  Better than she sleeps for us!  Besides, my parents were so thrilled to keep her that they probably would have been happy to stay up all night!

We haven't had any overnights away from A.  He is not a very good sleeper either, and my parents (who would probably be the first ones to take him overnight) haven't even offered, probably because they know it lol!  But a good solid night of sleep, plus sleeping in.. that does sound heavenly!
