Tuesday Healthy/Fitness Check-In

How'd you do yesterday?

I did good with exercise. I did 20 minutes of zumba on the kinect and 35 minute pregnancy workout DVD. The DVD just came yesterday and I love it! It worked my whole body without being too tough...and my muscles are sore this morning. Score! :)

Food was meh. I ate fruits and veggies but also a giant chocolate muffin and Halloween candy. :/ I bought healthy snacks at the grocery store yesterday so hopefully the new variety will keep me away from junk.

Re: Tuesday Healthy/Fitness Check-In

  • I'm eating well for the most part but not exercising. Yesterday I had grapes, an avacado, pineapple juice.

Exercising would be a lot easier if there were walking paths outside of my work and it is dark when I get home :\

  • Did my two hour-long classes at the gym. Power (weights) and Centergy (yoga/pilates). Food was okay...I started tracking on MFP, but forgot to track dinner. I don't think I went over, but I guess I don't know for sure. I did eat some halloween candy yesterday. Need to get that crap out of the house!

Will be leaving for the gym in a bit for Kick and Spin classes. Drinking a protein smoothie for breakfast, might need to add a little PB sandwich since I'll be doing a lot of cardio. Hopefully can stay away from the candy today.

  • Tourqeyes I know how you feel! That's why I bought the dvd haha. I can do it whenever, and don't have to tote DS somewhere.

Mrscurlygurl you put me to shame!

  • I was pretty good yesterday. I ran for 30 minutes. Well, running is a pretty generous way of describing my exercise, it was more of a jog. I'm trying to keep my heart rate under 140 and I'm not moving quickly. I also did weights.

For food, I was pretty good with the exception of the full size Crunch bar that's been calling my name from my daughter's Halloween bucket.

mrscurlygurl: 2 hours of working out? That's impressive!

BPaws: You look great!  Well done!

  • I'm in taper right now for a race on Sunday, so not running much this week. Didn't run yesterday but will probably try to fit in three this evening.

I was within my calorie goals yesterday, and have today mostly tracked as well. Tracking with MFP and my fitbit. I gained a lot last pregnancy and since I've lost it all - and then some - I want to do better this time around.
  • I ate pretty good yesterday but didn't work out. I need to get into a better routine. Yesterday I focuse on drinking lots of water and I accomplished that!

  • My eating has been terrible in that I'm eating constantly.  Why is it so hard to eat veggies and fruit rather than fun, yummy food?

As for exercise, I did a two mile walk yesterday.  I'm hoping to continue the cardio and maybe add a little more in during the week.

For those of you using MFP, I have a question.  I used MFP to help me lose weight previous to this pregnancy.  What are you setting your calories at?  I was doing 1200 before and that was to lose weight.

I did an hour long Zumba class yesterday. It was good. I had plenty of energy even though it was in the evening. Which is not always the case these days. I have Zumba today as well and tomorrow is a running day. Keeping up with my schedule no problem, but we'll seem how long that lasts.

Food was good. I'm really struggling to control my blood sugar so I am on a strict diet of lean proteins and veggies. It's been very difficult especially because I am finding it hard to get all the calories I need. I track with MFP. I know it's not a huge deal right now because my calorie needs haven't increased much but once we hit 2nd tri I'm going to need to figure it out. I'm sorry if I mention this a lot. It's a huge stress right now.

I need to incorporate some more strength training into my routine. Mostly of what I do right now is cardio. Any ideas where to start?

I've not done any exercise. In like 2 weeks. I need to return to it now before it's too late in the prenancy. My eating has been ok. I think a large part of that is soley because I've been too ill to eat anything. I'm tracking my intake using MFP and trying to hit 10,000 steps on my fitbit (embarrassing because 25,000 was my old normal.... I feel like a slug). Ugh. I've attached a couple of pictures for motivation WHY I need to eat healthy and exercise! The first picture is September 2012, a month after I delivered DS. The second picture is 3 days ago shopping for my Christmas card outfit (excuse the stupid face and lame pose- I wanted to go with the most recent picture I had!). I cannot get out of control this pregnancy- it's seriously not healthy.

    You look amazing!

  • @BPaws, you look incredible!

I jogged on the treadmill this morning for about 25 minutes and by the end I was really achy in my lower back and hips.  I couldn't have overdone it already because I usually do at least 3 miles and barely did 2 this morning.  I think it's because I haven't ran in over a week.

Eating has been a shitshow thanks to Halloween candy still in plain sight, but I'm still making sure to snack frequently and have lots of veggies with dinner.

@purplexdandelion - What DVD did you get?  I'm looking for a good one!

Mine is set to maintain now so I get 1750 calories a day. When I hit second tri, I'll start adding 300 calories a day to account for the pregnancy.
  • rosietoesohs  I forgot there was a setting for maintenance.  It's telling me that I can eat 1,880 starting out.

  • I work at home on Tuesdays and Thursdays so I'll fit in a 40 min walk and 30 min yoga practice. Yesterday was a no-go for exercise but I ate pretty well, lots I fruits and veggies and goo protein. And only one mini kit Kat bar...

  • You ladies are motivating me to get my butt in gear. I've completely abandoned the gym since BFP a week ago. I do walk 4 days a week with a few girls from work (usually 40-45 minutes) so that's something. Hearing that other girls are doing Zumba is awesome because I can do that at the gym (or break out my WiiFit).

Eating isn't terrible. Don't get me wrong I am starving every 2 hours, but I've kept some good WW habits and bring fruit and yogurt to work with me. I've definitely given myself some leeway with the carbs over the last week so might have to work on reigning that in

@BPaws you look awesome! Congrats on all that hard work! I lost 70lbs on WW and i'm determined not to gain it all back in pregnancy weight
    :P

I actually got my butt back in the gym yesterday for a 30 min walk. Feeling sluggish today. Don't think ima make it today. Will go back wed.

Been eating okay. We eat fast food for lunch so not too proud of that. Anyone else feel like they were hit by a Mack truck in there sleep last night???
  • Well...I take some fun classes at the gym and I know that DS has fun at the daycare there (he gets to play with other kids) so it's not hard to do the two hours. That's the max for the daycare per day. I just hope I can keep them or something up once a belly gets in my way. I wasn't this active with the first pregnancy because I was teaching far from home and it was so draining.

    Keep it up ladies!

  • I am doing my standard workouts so 4 miles on weekend and 2 every day Monday - Friday.  I am also sticking to a 1200 base calorie diet with 200-300 extra built in since I exercise daily.  I am a bit overweight so my Dr. is ok with sticking to this.  I am hoping to have a healthy pregnancy and I am aiming to gain little to no weight this time.
