baby shower activities...

One of my best friends is having her baby shower this weekend. I'm helping out a bit with food, making a diaper cake, etc. Another friend is doing games. She is doing the "guess the baby food" game. She asked me to come up with another game or activity. I'm not the most creative...so I'm looking for help/suggestions.

One idea was giving everyone a candy necklace, and anytime you catch someone saying "baby" you take their necklace. Whoever gets the most at the end "wins." I'm just not sure that is something people would actually keep going during the shower. Help! :)

Re: baby shower activities...

  • At my sister's, we had a baby bottle chugging contest. Put out a baby bottle with water on each table and have volunteers race to see who can finish it first. They also made a pin the sperm on the egg game, that may not work in every crowd :) the board looked like a uterus with fallopians & ovaries. It was hysterical. And there's always baby shower bingo. I hate it but people like it.

  • We did the game where anyone who said "baby" got their pin stolen and the person with the most got a gift. It was fun, and those that didn't really want to play didn't feel pressured.

You could also write out all the letters in the baby's name and see who can come up with the most 4 letter words from it. We did that and it was fun.

I'm glad the pin thing went smoothly! BFF doesn't have a name picked out yet, but I like that idea too!

You could use "Baby Boy Lastname" or "baby girl Lastname"... That would still be doable.

  • This isn't so much of a game as it is a way to celebrate mom to be! At my shower everyone chipped in $5 and placed their bet on which day I would deliver (only one person can "bet/guess" per day). Along with choosing a day they also choose a store/restaurant/salon to which id get a gift card to. Ex: my friend placed her $5 bet on aug 18, (the day my son was born) so with all the money pooled together from all the bets I got a gift card to hot mama. It is so thoughtful and fun to see what places everyone comes up with.
  • We did baby bingo. I thought it was a way to keep people involved, without forcing anything. We made it fun by giving people blank cards. Telling them to write in each square a present. Then after a few minutes have them switch with someone near them (without telling before hand it was gonna happen!) and people had a good time with it! And it wasn't as atrosious to spend so much time opening gifts because people wanted to see
  • You could do a "Price is Right" kind of game where the guests guess how much each baby item costs. The one to get the most right gets a prize of some sort :) Pinterest has a bunch of really cute baby shower games.
  • I hate anything that asks guests to give more money. They already bought a present.
We played the food guessing and baby pin game at mine. It was fun.

Jk. Baby bingo is always a winner.

    Hil.a.ri.ous.

At mine they did the whole name the celeb baby game where you match the celeb parent with the baby. For example. Blue Ivy- Beyonce North- Kim Kardashian. We also did a game where we took a photo of my H and one of me. We cut out our eyes, lips, nose, etc and Had each table put together what they thought our baby would look like. I chose my favorite.

You could also post this in Babyshowers and get more answers/ ideas?

  • I was just at a shower where we played a price is right game. There was a gift basket of baby stuff (lotion, diapers, wipes, paci) and we had to guess each price and the total. The closest guess won.

  • With my first, we did a "guess how big my belly is" where people would cut lengths of string and then I would try each of them around my belly to see who got the closest.

It was a co-ed shower and the dude who won said he just measured himself and then added a little slack, ha!

We also did a pool for when I'd go into labor and birth stats, but no money was involved (we were all poor grad students).
