Sleep training question

The past 9 nights have been AWFUL - he went from *mostly* sleeping through the night (with 1-2 wake-ups and then going right back to sleep) to waking 4-5 times a night and taking an hour plus to fall asleep each time. I am running on fumes! He's been in his merlin sleep suit for about a month but let me tell you, I thought about going up into the attic to get the miracle blanket a few times. He desperately needs to learn how to soothe himself to sleep. Do I need to take him out of the sleep suit to sleep train? My guess is yes so he has easier access to his hands. FYI he is 5 months old.

Re: Sleep training question

  • I would definitely experiment with taking him out of the suit, it could be that your LO needs a little less restriction.

  • Tommy has been having issues the last few nights. No advice here, but I was thinking about the hand thing tonight. We still swaddle the baby, but he has been teething and going at his hands like crazy, so I was wondering the same thing.

  • I don't have any experience with the sleep suit since we've never used it for S, but she definitely sucks on her finger(s) to help put herself to sleep. If he doesn't have access to his hands, I'm not sure what else he might use instead?

This. Our guy did so much better when we took him out and he could suck his thumbs and roll. It can't hurt. Give it a try.

  • Can your baby roll both ways? Our baby started to sleep better when she could sleep how she wanted to (on her stomach)
