What are your favorite songs to sing LO, especially to try to get them to sleep. I'm starting to get bored of Goodnight My Angel and Rainbow Connection
Don't Look Back in Anger by Oasis. Don't know why...he just loves it. Puts him to sleep every time. It's not even my favorite Oasis song...would have preferred Supersonic honestly.
I'm weird...I sing 'I don't want to close my eyes' by Aero Smith
That's the first song that came to mind when I had him! And he loves it, he always stops crying. With first DS I use to sing 'my brown eyed girl' but I would substitute boy for girl in the words. :-P

I just tried singing this to LO and immediately started crying. This is a no for me lol. I'm going to stick with a slow version of a silly little chicken song in spanish.
Eternal Flame by the Bangles has been my go to with both kids because it opens with a plea to "close your eyes." I've also sang the entire Disintegration album by the Cure to DS1. I have fortunately not had to do this with #2 yet.

I've sang Lovesong to my LO...he still prefers oasis, though. Robert Smirh just doesn't do it for him I suppose.
anything George Strait he listened to him in utero all the time!! Good thing he doesn't care that mommy's singing voice sounds like nails on a chalkboard!
Maroon 5, calms her immediately. Disney songs. You are my sunshine (though its history is terrible! ) And actually, Royals by Lourde/Lorde (sp?) She loooooves when I sing that, she quiets and focuses so entirely its amazing. The Beatles too, we like "Dear Prudence" for feedings and wake up times.
I got frustrated last night and accidently fell into a song with the lyric "count bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drums." Oops. But it starts soft and I was beyond exhausted. "Don't cry precious I'm here, step away from the window, go back to sleep... " etc. Not a bright and shiny parenting moment, but I stopped before the questionable lyrics so I didnt feel to bad.
Toora Loora Loora, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Disney movie songs (DD1 has them on constant loop), Christmas songs, Beatles. I have a Pandora lullaby station that's pretty awesome and plays a lot of soft adult rock stuff like the Beatles and Jewel. It was awesome with DD1.
Francesca Pearl is here! Josephine Hope is almost 3!
I should save this for FFFC, but the first song I sang to DD1 was Friends In Low Places. Without knowing it, DH did the same thing. At different points we've sung Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and ABC. And there were 10 in the bed and the little one said roll over.
Even worse, I don't think I've really sung to DD2 at all. I have tried the lullaby I sing to DD1 a couple of times and I think she recognized it a bit. But stayed awake.
I sing Here Comes the Sun and Golden Slumbers by the Beatles. Those are our morning and night songs, but we have several others to fill the in-between time!
We must be the only parents who don't worry about "questionable lyrics" when it comes to singing. My mom read every agatha Christie nursed mystery to me when I was a baby and she was home on maternity leave. She said she just made her voice sing-songy as she read the words I turned into a complete bookworm and don't had any ill effects from listening to murder mysteries from birth to six months!
I don't know how this was started but my dd1 started requesting the Star-Spangled Banner, America the beautiful and amazing grace, in that order. America and Jesus.
We don't really sing to either DD or DS, besides singing along to CD's or the radio in the car. DD loves The Lumineers, Coldplay, and the Avett Brothers- I've refused to get any "kids" music for the car, with the exception of the Yo Gabba Gabba soundtracks because they're awesome. I think my proudest mom moment came when she was 3- I put on a CD and she said, "Is this The Talking Heads?"
If we do sing, we usually make up a song to go along with whatever activity we're doing at the moment.
We also have a collection of the Rock-A-Bye Baby CD's for DD to listen to at bedtime. She's currently listening to the DMB one (yeah, that's all me) but also loves Coldplay, The Cure, and Metallica (that's DH) versions. We'll have to get another CD player for DS's room at some point; I think we introduced those to DD around a year old.

Into the West from LOTR
The Blessing by The Celtic Women
Let it Be Me and You are the Best Thing by Ray Lamontagne
And then whatever I am singing that Sunday or if I have a gig I will use bedtime for rehearsing!
