Winter footwear ..

Can anyone recommend where they got winter footwear for LO? A kicks off her socks like its her job. Its starting to get really cold here in NY and I can't seem to find boots that are warm enough.

Granted I want to get her uggs but they are like 70 bux and is it worth spending that much on a shoe at this age? I'll probably cave and get them but hearing other suggestions would be great :)

TIA !

Re: Winter footwear ..

  • I hear what you are saying about spending that much for baby shoes. As they will be just worn for cold protection. Can you get Ugg like boots at Payless or Target?

I am not sure what I'll do for winter shoes. I would like to get something that is easy to slip on and off and probably fur lined for warmth.

Can it just skip winter? Or have a very mild winter??

  • I forgot about target!! Thanks !

I wish we still had fall, I hate how spring and fall are no longer present in our 4 seasons. I feel like we get teased with a week or 2 of each. Sigh..

  • We got fleece lined moccasins at a consignment store. I couldn't stomach a lot this year for something like that.

  • Old navy has fleece booties. Also J kicked his socks off until I realized he needed 6-12 month socks. No problems since.

  • This is what i am going for, but we are in TX, so they might totally not work for y'all: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000YALVDQ
  • ^^ I was also going to recommend Robeez. They're the only shoe that will stay on Em!

  • In my area, Target does not have much of a selection of boots. They do have some Leather type ones that I think have a fur lining. They are hanging by the onesies in the baby section in a clear plastic bag. I had a lot more luck at Carters, JCP, Gymboree, Old Navy and I'm not sure if you have a homegoods store near you (or tjmaxx or marshalls) but I usually find cute boots there. Sometimes they are hanging on the wall by the baby clothes at tjmaxx and marshalls but you can also find them in little boxes with the baby stuff at homegoods.
I'm going to hijack your post with a picture of boots I just bought L at homegoods the other day for $12.00. I'm so in love with them.

  • Try Target.com. They have a much better selection than the store.

  • maybe i'm an idiot, but when are you putting shoes on your LOs? Our DC is usually pretty warm so I never thought about putting shoes on S since her school said shoes are only required for kids over a year old because they go outside to play. S is never outside in the cold for longer than a couple minutes, so I didn't think shoes were necessary!

We'll throw some socks on her if we're outside for any length of time longer than a couple minutes, and we leave socks at school for her since they do take the kiddos outside for a little bit every day, but if the weather is super cold or bad, they don't go out.

  • Thank you ladies for all the suggestions. Looks like I'll be doing alot of shopping this week lol.

@crazycoffeegirl I am trying to get her to wear shoes because she kicks off all of her socks. I've lost matches of over 12 pairs of socks in the aisles of the supermarket , stores, and on walks.

My issue now is sizing. a size 1-2 in H&M fit her foot but not her chubby leg. At this rate she'll be a size 4.

What sizes are you getting your LOs?

  • @beaubecca & @ALP514 - S hates things on her feet since that means she can't get to her toes which she loves to munch on. I guess I never thought about putting shoes on her because that would really piss her off! That and we're not very fashionable here in our house. She's a lucky gal if she gets pants that match her top when we leave the house!

  • We use robeez. They are the only ones we've tried that stay on.
  • I need to know the answer to this too.  I can't keep socks on this kid for love or money and all her shoes are too big.

  • My mom just found baby boots at JoAnn's.  They were on clearance and they were running a coupon you could use on discounted items.  They ended up being $1.70 each.  I never would have thought to look there.  DD hates things on her feet, too.  I'm trying to have her practice now before she really needs to wear them.  WalMart has these socks, I'll have to look up the brand, that are technically 3mo-24month.  They have this elastic in them that keeps them on the foot better and they grow with baby.  So far, they're the only socks she hasn't pulled off.

  • I bought these gap ones in brown too. Luv them:)  They are more boyish looking uggs!
  • I ended up finding a really cute pair of boots for 8 dollars at marshalls! They should serve the purpose for now. I'm definitely looking into robeez though!
