Allergy appt

How often does your allergist require appts? My DD2 was tested before starting school and they said she doesn't need to be retested for 3-5 years. Her allergies are bad and getting worse as she gets older. I tried to get her epi-pen renewed and they said they won't without an appt. Does your doc require a yearly appt when no testing is done and you have no problems? I've made her an appt and but it just burns me that I have to pay for a "specialist" appt and they aren't even re-testing and she doesn't have any problems.

Re: Allergy appt

  • I'm not 100% sure as DS has yet to go a full year from his original appointment, however I was given the impression that he can be re-tested every two years. No mention of another appointment in order to get new epi pens in between appointments.

  • We go back to the allergist every 3 months as of now and get retested for already occurring allergies every 6 months. She has gotten tested for new allergies depending on if we suspect new ones are forming

  • My girls have the blood test done each year. But our regular pedi orders the test. We take them to the pedi allergist if they need a skin test too. Or if they're having reactions to something, but we don't know what it is.
