Hi!
We may possibly be moving to this area for my work, but before we accept or decline, I was trying to get a little more information about this area...
My husband and I have two little girls. Our oldest will be 3 in October, and our baby will be 1 in September. We live in South Carolina right now (so it's going to be very difficult to leave the coast!)
Could I get some recommendations for: best areas to live, neighborhoods to look at, and daycares/preschools? I would be working in downtown Harrisburg, but don't necessarily need to live extremely close to my work.
I'm also wondering what typical weekly tuition is for a full-time preschool/daycare (trying to compare cost of living).
Thanks!
Re: Possibly Moving to Harrisburg area
I'll PM you in a moment, but for now, check out the post below related to Wisconsin as there are some good replies there about this area.
Im admittedly bias toward Mechanicsburg because I grew up here. I left for about a decade, and then came back to raise my girls near my family. In my opinion the Mechanicsburg area has the best school districts in the region and the entire area is very family friendly.
I also work in downtown Harrisburg and my commute is about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic, and there are also several public bus options. My girls go to daycare and the cost for full time is about $400-500 per week total, for both girls. Thats a pretty competitive price for daycare centers, of course in home care is a little cheaper.
You can probably find real estate pretty easily online, the zip code is usually 17055 or 17050.
