I plan to buy toys like wooden ABC 123 blocks, giant mega blocks (legos for when he is older), activity center cubes, and things that promote an action/reaction type of thing.
I have wooden blocks right now and we both play with them, I build the blocks up and he knocks them over. It is fun for a few hours.
Activity tables or push toys are great for 6+ months. Most can sit on the floor and be used by LOs who are sitting and then will continue to grow with them.
I'm thinking it's something we would get a lot of use out of, especially while she's not big enough for the bigger sets. Plus, she LOVES the swings. Anyone have any input?

Not worth it. We got one for Charlie's 1st birthday and he outgrew it super fast. I'd spring for something bigger that will last longer. The swing is on straight arms, so it doesn't really swing - it rocks back and forth about a foot. :-/ The slide is really short and they outgrow it around 2.
Now it sits on my porch.

I know she's a little young but I had to buy a cabbage patch doll ( it's for 2+ so she will be supervised playing with it). I want to get Scout too. Other than that we are going to get a few books and clothes.
They have a play cube at target kind of like that for $50 regular price. I think we will get that for Logan for Christmas. Thanks for the idea! I forget how fast he is growing! :S
For older ds' first Christmas we got a music table and stacking balls. I'm giving the same toys to dd with a few small other things. I'm saving money while i can.

I totally agree with @OhSewCrafty. We got one as a gift for DS when he was started waking. The "rock wall" he couldn't figure out on his own at first so we had to lift him on the platform. He hated the swing because it didn't swing enough so it was used once. We got it last summer and sold it this summer. Invested in a big one that he can use until probably 7 or 8.
OP we got the fisher price laugh and learn house for DD for this Christmas. My friend has the barn version and her son loved it, still does and he's 18 mos. My DS even plays with it when he's at their house so I hope it's a big hit. This is from Santa. We bought her a leap frog picnic basket from DH and I. We also got her a my first cabbage patch (soft dolly) for her stocking. And the rest of her stocking is going to be a pair of pjs, a small book, a toque for winter and pair of crochet slippers that I picked up from a craft sale. I'm totally a sale shopper so I got the house for $40 off and the picnic basket for $10 off. Which is why I'm done shopping already. I kind of knew what I wanted for the kids and started watching for sales in August.
