no neutral travel system?

Hey ladies,

I am a FTM, and today DH and I went to BRU to set up our registery. We spent most of our time playing around the stroller/car seat section looking at travel systems. We found one we like

https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=18244776&product_skn=886189

and put it on our registery. But now I am wondering if it is too boyish? We won't know the sex till Nov. 23rd, but now I am debating taking it off if we have a girl, even though we like the system. I really wanted a travel system that was very gender neutral since we are planning to have more than one child, but it seems like there isn't many choices out there as far as gender neutral patterns for the travel systems that we like.

Blue is personally my favorite color so I know it can be used for a girl, but I would like to see what you ladies think....I may be overthinking it (like DH says) but some second opinions would be helpful! Would you use this pattern for a girl?

Thanks in advance!

I think it's fine. It looks sorta teal more than a true 'boy's blue'. And you can just add a pink blanket if it's a girl.

FWIW, this is my opinion despite having the baldest baby girl ever (completely bald at her first birthday, now at 2yo she is getting her first pig tails).

  • I had a grey and lime green stroller and car seat for my daughter. I would totally use the one you linked for a girl. I think you are over thinking it too.

  • I think it's gender neutral too! The one I am looking at is a sage green that I think is gender neutral.

  • I like it, I wouldn't think your baby is a boy or girl just because of the color of your stroller.
  • You're overthinking! I think that colour is fine for a boy or a girl. You can add a blanket in pink or blue or whatever to make it more clear if you want, but be prepared for your baby to be mistaken for the wrong gender half the time anyway :)

  • That looks totally neutral to me. If you are really worried about it, the Britax travel system is very neutral and very highly rated.
  • Oh! And the Britax B-agile travel system is on sale at Diapers.com for $299 right now. It is $379 at BRU.
  • If it helps, my daughter never complained about the color of her travel system. ;)

  • I also agree with other posters. I would dress my daughter from head to toe in pink and she would be sitting in a pink stroller and she was born with a full head of hair that had a bow or headband in it practially everyday and strangers would still tell me how cute my little boy was, lol.

  • It's teal. Not "boy blue" so it is totally ok.

I think you're fine! That's teal, not "boy blue."

ETA: Our travel system (this one) had some light blue in it, and we knew we were having a girl when we picked it.

  • That's the exact one we are planning on. If anything, DH thought it might be too girly because the leaf design looks kind of floral, so I think it's very gender neutral. We don't know the sex yet either

Our travel system for DD was lime and teal and will work for this boy baby now too. Like PP said babies will get mistaken for the opposite sex no matter what.
  • Overthinking it. This is very gender neutral. Plus, any more "girlie" and you might feel weird using it for a subsequent boy.

  • I just registered for the exact same one. We are team green. It's definitely fine IMO for girl or boy.

  • I like that same stroller and had the same thought. We also want gender neutral and found an all black one that we like at BRU. It's Graco FastAction Fold Click Connect Jogger Travel System Stroller - Road Runner. It had good reviews. I figure if it's a girl then just use pink blankets and if it's a boy use blue

  • This is the same one on my BRU registry! I'm having a girl and still want this one! In the store I fell in love with the teal color and thought it could go both ways!

  • If we have a girl we are doing her stuff Aqua , grey and coral. Teal is just a dark version of aqua. It can totally be girlish.
  • You can always order a car seat cover in another color. Might be a good idea to use a cover since you plan on using it for future babies. They have cute custom one on etsy.com
  • I think it's good for either sex, and as pp said you can just dress it up with boy or girl blankets etc.
    I love the colours too.
  • Ooh...pretty! I'd love that for either sex :)

I actually find it more girly than boyish. I think it's a great set. I have that jogger and I can't say enough good things about it, great choice all around.

ETA: total fail on my part, I thought it was a baby trend jogger but still, I've heard great things about that stroller as well.

  • You're over thinking it.
Babies get mistaken for the wrong gender all the time, even with giant pink bows on their heads. This is gender neutral in my opinion, I wouldn't assume you had a baby boy in there automatically.

Totally agree with this. My DD had a ruffly pink Easter dress on and an old lady asked me how old me son is. And my car seat cover is lavender and multiple times I was asked what my boy's name was. People are dumb.

  • I like it! I'm a fan of teal though.

  • I don't think it's boyish.

We have the Chicco Keyfit30 travel system in "Romantic".  It's silver and black.

  • I think it looks more girly than boyish (I happen to be wearing teal today) but definitely gender neutral enough for either a boy or girl.
