C-sections

RCS with twins after a singleton...

Any twin moms here? I had an emergency C-section with DD after making it fully dialated and then her heart rate dropping (her cord was around her neck). I'm having twins next month :-O and will be doing a RCS. Is the section any different since there are two? ,Larger incision? I know the OR will have tons of people, and I'm sure it takes longer. Also, is the recovery different then when you just have one? I feel like my recovery with DD was pretty easy. Hoping the same this time around.

Re: RCS with twins after a singleton...

  • My twins were babies #3 and #4. I had had two previous csections with both of my DD so twins were a rcs. Incision was same size along previous incision. I, too, recovered well from my previous csections and other than being perhaps slightly more tired from chasing around two older children, and taking care of two babies instead of one, I think my recovery has been about the same. Good luck!! :)

Thanks so much. I actually look forward to being more coherent this time around. I was so drugged up last time.

  • I'm having a RCS tomorrow with my b/g twins so I don't have experience to say whether it was different or not but I'll be sure to update you after tomorrow. I've been wondering the same questions!
  • I had a vaginal birth with my singleton and a c/s with my twins (babies 2 and 3).  I had a RCS in May with another singleton.  My incision with the singleton I just delivered is bigger than my twin c/s (he was 9lb 10oz).  My recovery with my twins was easier than the singleton.

In short, my c/s with my twins wasn't any more difficult than when I delivered the last singleton.
