Waking Up With Sore Hips

Is anyone else having this problem? Doesn't matter what side I sleep on but my IT bands/outside of hips are really sore in the morning if I don't sleep perfectly. I've seen those preggo body pillows, do they work?

  • Mine wake me every night multiple times. I did find yoga helped a lot then got put on pelvic rest with no exercise so I can't say if the relief would have continued as pregnancy progressed. It's worth a shot for you ladies though!! Let me know if you try it and it still works!
  • Same here (with pillows). I stretch before bed and usually when I get up to pee in the MOTN.

  • Thanks everyone! I'll try a regular pillow tonight and see if it helps. And I'll get back to stretching regularly...

  • I'm having the same issue. I put a pillow between my legs for a couple nights so I'm thinking i need to get a body pillow. I was hoping to not have to shell out the $. Ugh.

  • The Snoogle helps me with sore hips. When I was pregnant with DD I started seeing the chiropractor once or twice a week and saw a huge difference. It helped so much.

  • Hips And lower will hurt...ligaments will losen up getting ready for labor
  • I also still get still hips even though I have the snoogle but I do believe it helps if I put it between my legs starting high(under pelvis) and all the way down to my toes so my alignment stays even
  • My hips and back hurt every morning. I usually have walk like an old lady to the bathroom holding onto things the whole way. I have a body pillow and sleep with it between my legs and still I am so sore. I think it is because I work standing on concrete flooring from 3pm-11:45pm, 5 days a week.

I got my body pillow from Walmart for $10. It is super soft. I splurged and got the silk style pillowcase to go on it. Total investment of $20. I got it because I am a back sleeper and I am trying to train my body to be a side sleeper.

  • Yes, this has been happening to me. I recently started sleeping with a regular pillow between my knees, which helps a little.

No hip soreness yet, but have some lower back soreness that I feel is related to my hips (and being forced to lay on my sides all night). Need to invest in a snoogle.

  • Oh, this is me big time, waking multiple times a night. It's really only started in the last week or so, but now it's every night. And only when I'm sleeping... I don't feel my hips at all during the day. I did a prenatal yoga class on Saturday, and while it was a great class, I don't think it helped my hips. Now I'm trying a regular pillow between my legs, and trying to really pay attention to having my hips lined up. I didn't wake up as much last night, so I guess it's a little better. I'm going for my regular doctor appointment tomorrow, and will be asking her for any additional tips.

    So glad I'm not alone!
