We always do, both for my Italian Catholic side of the fam and the Christian side if the fam. Usually something small... Last one I did a little animal, a baby book and a picture frame.
Here it is normal to give money or a religious item like a cross necklace for a girl if you're an immediate family member, but for a cousin's son I would say a card would be fine if you want to take anything.
It kind of depends. In some denominations/cultures it is (catholic yes) but others not. We didn't receive any gifts at my daughters baptism and I didn't expect any.
Mama to a little girl born July 2011 and a little boy born April 2014!
We didn't expect anything with our son's baptism...I think folks coming is just lovely enough. We did go out to eat afterwards and it was great to have everyone there to just socialize, for the encouragement, and love.
We do give gifts and received gifts for our son's baptism. We got a Hug-A-Bible (very cute), a picture frame, a personalized "My Very Own Name" book (which you probably won't get in time). Maybe just a little kids Bible and a little stuffed lamb?
